As one of, but certainly not the most senior American on GOT, it might be helpful for you to know about certain threads that will help you bed in. GOT has a glorious past, and many of it's most colorful members have burned brightly and then faded like dying stars in the sky.

First, we speak a different language here. It's part English, part Scouse, and part made up GOT language.

Read this thoroughly: http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/t...-colourful-words-appendix-2010-version.29081/

For you MLS fans: http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/mls-thread.26580/

Also, the th
read that eased me into GOT life. I was a bit nervous at first to start posting, so I went straight for the music thread and go to know people in there: http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/t...rently-listening-to.105/page-996#post-2855113

An addendum:

Avoid this thread at all costs. Don't be tempted to go in there. At least not until you've been burned so many times that nothing hurts anymore:

Oh and the Brits LOVE it when you call it "soccer" and correct them on how to pronounce Aluminium.

They also appreciate our advise to avoid a diet that consists of pasties, pasties, and...

pasties.

They're not the spangly things on women's breasts that your grandpa watched Little Egypt twirl around in East St. Louis during the war, BTW.

Google "welsh empanada" and see what you get. Still trying to figure out what a Zimmer frame is, dang it.

Actually mate, pretty much 100% of the posts in here are delivered in Bolix.

Note: Bolix is an ancient Celtic based dialect used mainly now in the north west of England to convey knowledge and wisdom, often with impressive volume, the level of Bolix spoken tends to increase with libations offered to the olde blue gods of 1985.
