If we are to compete and leave some mark in Europe and primary in PL we need to think about replacement for Jagielka and Distin, hopefully that Galloway kid can produce something similar as Stones, whome i only trust as a centre back
Distin replacement does have to be looked at in Jan/next summer.

But Jags has looked solid in the last few games and has another year or two left in him as a starter. It was a mistake yesterday but the midfield offered no protection and Hibbo didn't cover - its as just unfortunate.

He looks a lot, lot better with Stones next to him. Jags isn't a centre-half who is gonna get on the ball, but him and Stones compliment each other perfectly.

Interesting view from a neutral. We have had defensive problems thus far in the season, one only needs to look at goals against in the league. It has actually tightened up quite bit with Stones playing.
I am only comfortable with Stones,Jags is making to many mistakes, last night he was acting like he was on training,Roberto need to sort him a little with his fine manners

Agree, but that is not going to get us far , i promise you,and Martinez knows that,i dont want to single out that mistake in particular .his behaviour through entire match was not on standards Roberto or anyone who would love Everton progress and growth to continue.

We're 2 wins from 8 this season. That's what worries me. I don't care if we play pretty or not at this point. We need to start winning, but we hardly look like it.

Much of this season might be about grinding out wins but we seem to be headed on the right track. After the 1st couple weeks it was apparent that the D needed sorted out big time and it looks like we are accomplishing that. As long as Man United stays medicore 65pts might give us a real shot at 4th. We beat Lille and we can rest a ton of players for the Christmas matches and the match this weekend will go a long way to determine where we will finish in the league. Its not going to be our record against Chelsea-Man City or Arsenal that gets us into the C-league, it will be how we stack up against the 4-8th place teams.

I may be being harsh on McGeady, the front 3 look really isolated at times which maybe why he is losing possession so much. Still think he flatters to deceive though.

A point away in Russia is a decent result. The amount of chances we let them have yet again though and the amount of times we needlessly gave the ball away like a hot rock is quite concerning.

He does take people on one on one too many times to the point in which no defender is really expecting a cross. Its an aspect of his game he needs to develop more. If he can he'll go from squad player to regular starter.

On D I think its OK if there are a couple one on one chances with the keeper because Howard regularly excels at shot stopping. Its when we don't close down the wings and there are crosses (especially flat ones around the 6 yard box) that give him trouble.

Just got back from Russia now. Boss few days really and thought it was a decent result. Btw, Samuel Eto'o is easily the nicest person I've met connected to Everton, spoke to him for about 10-15 minutes in the hotel the team were staying at and he seemed more interested in my life than I was in his, no matter how many questions I was trying to ask! Real top man, took time to speak to everyone, as did Martinez, Baines and Barry. Whole squad were very friendly out of those I spoke to. Got a great bunch of lads there.
