I see you've dropped your insistence now that the club orchestrated a media campaign against Maguire.

At least that's some progress.

More misrepresentation. I haven't insisted that the club orchestrated a "media campaign against Maguire" at all. As I said, entirely semantics and miscomprehension on your part. I clearly stated that this has been classic Kenwright tactics.... in order to silence critics and control the narrative throughout his time. Look where that's got us..... and now you want to silence his critics too! Brilliant!

There's no misrepresentation of you or misunderstanding by me. Your words:

"The fact is, the club reaction and attempt to refute his analysis was classic Kenwright, calling in a few media mates trying to silence the club's critics."

Whether you meant there was an attempt to scare up stories about Maguire or whether you meant the club tapped up journos for Maguire's phone number you cant state that as fact. You can say it's your hunch, but that's not a source or evidence to make it a fact.

I'm willing to accept that it's been inexactitude on your part - an over-claim - and to leave it at that.

So, I clearly made no mention of a "media campaign" then!

I also used a comma to separate the points because it's simply reference to his historic calling in of favours from connections in the media to stiffle his critics. No specific insistence nor claims.... I also prefixed the private phone number suggestion by "perhaps".

Meanwhile, we still face a commission and the club is financially hamstrung and staring down the barrel. This fella has covered aspects of both, but for some reason, you think he or something he's said is the problem.

Ok, you're resorting to sophistry.

In no way shape or form does this latest attempt to walk yourself back from your own words make sense or suffice.

I know we did it to ourselves but there's a sick irony in the fact that we can barely spend money yet we are up on a FFP charge. While other clubs spend more or less as they please

I honestly don't get why people are fretting about this. According to multiple reports, it's a bookkeeping error about the stadium build, no?
What happens if the stadium doesn't complete? Hypothetically, is the money spent still able to be written off as infrastructure?

Poor comprehension only I'm afraid...... but feel free to cling on to an irrelevant argument on semantics. Long after the club dropped its challenge to Maguire at the very first instance, completely nullifying your original argument and stance in their support.

He might be asked about the effects of this latest financial mishap on P&S too, with some new info emerging about various loan arrangements..... so no doubt there will be more gnashing of teeth and vendetta claims about the commentator, while the club goes to hell in handcart.

The very least you're guilty of here is not reading the room. You seem happy to be that the club are going through this process and want the worst outcome.

That's contrary to what just about every Everton fan wants to happen, but you appear to want the club punished and are willing to stand in behind a psuedo-financial expert with a grisly history in abusing the memory of the dead.

Not justifying anything of the sort. Nor conflating two separate issues either.

However, on the issue of FFP and P&S (the subject of the thread), if you wish to avoid circling Vultures, it's probably best not to engage in the type of car crash economics and gross mismanagement that our club has for years. As far as I know, this fella didn't bring the commission on us, that was entirely due to the actions of our club.
Let’s not forget the club believe they have worked hand in glove with the authorities over the finances. Not sure the nature of this alleged breach is even in the public domain yet is it?
Maguire and his ilk undeniably set a tone and narrative that can (and has been) easily latched onto.
Basically he feeds the vultures.

Read the room? You're guilty of not even reading the thread.....
Again, you misrepresent me and are making stuff up because you have no argument. Yes, saying the club is going to "hell in a handcart" obviously means I'm deliriously happy. By the same logic can I assume that your continued attack on the messenger while all around us is collapsing, means you're happy with and support the board and status quo?

You're the one who tagged me with your irrelevant non-argument into a thread about FFP/P&S. Grisly history of abusing the memory of the dead (one insensitive tweet)/ pseudo expert (runs a university department that specialises in the subject)? You're more obsessed with this fella than you are with the actual perpetrators of the gross mismanagement that he and several others have commentated on. Rome is burning and you're creating this distraction of irrelevant nonsense on the thread that's supposed to be about one of its causes. He's the one with the qualifications, the multiple books and articles published on the subject and he's the one who they'll be asking to comment.... and he's certainly not the one who caused any of the issues. They tried to silence him and you've repeatedly advocated the same.... yet it's me who hasn't read the room?
