Hopefully it is a loan with an option to buy. There was a reason why we were linked with Gabriel all year. Our CB options are not good enough to be pushing for a top six position.

Would be made up with this. From what I've seen, both Gibson and Branthwaite could very well stake a claim for a starting spot in 12-18 months time, but sitting on our bench for the coming season won't do a great deal to develop them further compared to 40 games in the Championship.

As for Tomori, he gives us the option to play far higher lines when the occasion suits due to his incredible speed (à la Ratcliffe) and would round off our centrehalf options really nicely.

He easily could be more than cover. I like our CBs on the whole but they aren't world class by any stretch and the idea that someone coming in couldn't earn a place quite quickly is off imo.
