Fellaini Has A Big Decision To Make

We should at the very least have the rest of the Rodwell money to spend.

Not cynical at all, we have one of the best left backs in the world and he had never once come and and said he would look for a move, does this make Bainsey less ambitious? No, I think it shows the character of the player.

Totally agree by the way mate, footy is not a game anymore it's a commercial decision making signature riddled disease.

baines is english, possibly understands how big off a club we are over a foreigner?

'Go bust’, surely you aren’t being serious mate?

All the new revenue would easily cover the expenditure in January, and even if such revenue wasn’t on its way, Everton Football Club wouldn’t be in danger of going bust just because it owed an extra 20 million or so.

The bank called in a 30 million pound overdraft not so long ago, and we paid it back with ease in less than 12 months. We were never in danger of ‘going bust’, and what’s more, selling the assets that allowed us to pay the bank back has left us in a far healthier situation than what we were.

We paid back £30m in 12 months ?

I also think you underestimate the damage that a £20m debt can do to a team with practically no tangible assets except the squad.

Yes, we paid an awful lot of money back over a 12-18 month period, and it totalled somewhere in the region of £30m.

As stated above, we already have experience of having a £20m+ debt being called in, and we paid it back quite easily. OK, this also involved the sale of Bellefield, but we also have a considerable amount of new revenue coming our way which would more than cover such debt.

All in all, it would be clever to invest in January as we have the sale of Fellaini and the new revenue to fall back on. However this would involve the club showing some AMBITION, and it is the club's lack of AMBITION which will probably make this type of investment unlikely.

It sounds nice, but here's a very plausible scenario.

We bring in £20m worth of players in January. They end up being a pair of Bilyaletdinovs. We finish fifth, Moyes leaves. We have to find a replacement manager, and either have to pay compensation to a club, or hope that a good manager falls into our lap.

Fellaini kicks up a fuss and leaves for £25m on deadline day, 20% of the profit goes to Liege so we're left with £23m but can't spend it until January. Our new manager is crap and we're sat in the bottom half of the table by the time the transfer window opens. Jelavic decides he wants out, as does Mirallas.

etc.

I'm all for spending some money in January, but £20m is a bit ridiculous when the club has shown no interest in actually investing in the club. Strengthening the squad should be the goal, which Moyes could do with less than half that figure.

Big January signings are just panic buys, how can you expect a player to slot right in if he was signed end of the month? No time to settle in or anything, season ends 3 months later.

Didn't the ****e decide to invest heavily a year or so back?
Best part of that investment is lost, and they could afford it.It could kill us for years if we spent and went the same way as them.
Big money, big wages usually means big heads and affects team moral.
We should stick to what we do best get em cheap and improve them.

in terms of his comment alls i can say is at last Somebody has grown a spine at the club, at least its set some sort of bar anyway , when was the last time anybody set a standard or put any expectancy on at the club , bill and dave put that to bed a long time ago in there Mind controlling ways , So Top 4 or bust says Fellini" , Moyes will booking a early press conference to put that one straight

I was almost certain he would leave last summer...almost resigned to it.....he is an ambitous young man and he deserves a higher level of football. If we could match his ambitions I think he would stay without a doubt , but we all know the club will struggle to provide regular European football for him.
He is being honest...so it is down the club, players and all to do their utmost to fulfill what should be not only his but their footballing ambitions
