James Vaughan could run 100 metres in 10.49 sec at 16 the boy was rapid. Shame he lost it with his injuries.

You sure this is true, the british international 100m sprinters only seem to get between 10.10 and 10.20 these days.

Anybody up for organising an "Everton All-Stars Superstars" event next pre-season to answer this once and for all? We could get Brian Jacks in as a Special Guest to do some squats and Kevin Keegan could try and ride a racer to give us all a laugh. I'm sure ITV would be up for it.

I guess Vaughan on the clock, although he didn't have many chances to show it. Flat speed in football over 100m isn't as important as acceleration over 10m, though. For such a big guy, it's phenomenal how Distin manages to hit top speed so quickly.

Drenthe was rapid, but when you're that small it often limits you. There were not many occasions he pushed the ball past his man and beat him for pace.

"pace over 100 yards" is pretty meaningless.
In football the important thing is pace over the first 10-20 yards, and the first 5 yards of that is down to a player's reading of the game. Plenty of players don't have that so good, so their pace doesn't count for ****.

Is that actually true? Seems a bit **** really cause i ran the 100m at 12 secs dead when i was 14.

If you had a sprint from end line to end line, it would be Distin.

Big difference in those 2 seconds though mate. They're only half a a second slower than the world record there, for instance.

The other Everton players used to say Yobo was the quickest around 5 years ago. Has to be Distin and Coleman in the current squad. I always think we look slower than other teams, man for man.

Is that an average or what? Definitely not top speed, especially since he runs faster with the ball than without it... As I said earlier, he ran a lot but not sure on him being 2nd fastest in the league, especially after seeing him outpaced quite a few times...
