Surely the biggest fix here is not about the amount of unlapped cars that passed but the safety car should complete another lap after they’ve unlapped themselves before the race resumes!

Exactly, as unsatisfying as it may be, the race should have finished under the SC

Seems as though the race director has the power not to follow the guidelines to the letter. Fair would have been to have the last lap without the cars unlapping themselves. Lewis was effectively a sitting duck

Whether you are a Hamilton fan or Verstappen fan, it’s a bad day for the sport today. Rules were clearly not followed, which they were clearly not. Mercedes strategy not to pit Hamilton was based on them following the rule book that any lapped drivers should be unlapped and therefore the race should have finished under the safety car.

There's little point, even if they get it overturned 3 months later the moment has passed, you live to be crowned on the day. Masi has to be booted out for this though.

A compromise will be reached.

Result stands but F1 will acknowledge the rules were not followed correctly and they'll try better next season.

That isn’t an acceptable compromise to Mercedes at all. The race director didn’t apply the rules correctly, therefore the result should have been overturned.

Bad day for F1 this, a blatant fixing of the outcome and a cover up to follow no doubt.

Essentially now making it impossible for teams to make strategy calls in the future based on rules and regs.

As they say possession is also 9/10 of the law so taking the title away from Max was probably the biggest hurdle to over come!

F1s ability to shoot itself in the foot has always been impressive. Sadly don't think there will be many consequences, the casual audience who they are desperate to appeal to will have loved the theatre of it all and won't really care about finer details of penalties etc unless they are Hamilton fans.

The new era of F1 is all about the show, its developed the same mindset as Nascar, won't be long until we get playoffs to increase the drama.

It’s ironic that verstappen has been bleating about decisions going against him, when he has got numerous decisions going his way this season. The FIA have waited till the last moment for the biggest injustice of applying the rules.
