I don’t know enough about the various penalties that can be dished out and in what circumstances but they’ve seen that he actively braked again causing the collision so Verstappen was clearly at fault. Not to mention that he had moved back to the centre of the track at that point too.

As I say though I don’t know enough about the penalties to say for sure that it is a lenient punishment.

EDIT: I will say I think he should have been punished more as he hasn’t suffered at all for what he did in that incident. I just don’t know if it’s the FIA applying the rules wrongly or if the rules are just a bit rubbish.

I don't think the word 'lenient' covers it. They basically haven't punished him.

It's so obvious Verstappen is the golden boy it's laughable. If I were him, I'd just smash into Hamilton off the starting line, the FIA can't wait to hand him the title so they'd probably just give him a two place grid penalty or something for doing it, so why not.

It wouldn't surprise me if Liberty were instructing the FIA to make it so just like Bernie did.

If, and its a big if, Hamilton secures number 8 next week, I wouldn't be surprised if he just packed it in, left it to Verstappen.
Legacy intact, some big records, good way to leave.

I don’t think he will and I hope he doesn’t. I reckon he’ll want at least one go at the new regulations and new cars. He signed a new 2 year contract for the next 2 years so I’d be very surprised if he stepped away after this year. If the new Merc for next year is competitive he could be looking at 10

Verstappen’s season is tainted and he will be a tainted champion if he wins it next weekend.

The guy has driven some stonking races this year, but he has also crossed the line on several occasions and dragged the sport into disrepute. I fear that if he wins by crashing Lewis out it will be a dark day for the sport that has allowed racing standards to plumb new lows.

Masi’s position as race director is surely untenable now. He has to go. His buddy talk approach means that he doesn’t have the respect of any of the teams and drivers. Absolutely terrible at his job and helped turn F1 into a circus.
I just think he has done what he has been told.
Ensure we get a new champ.
Only Hamilton's pure refusal to lose is stopping that.
Every once in a while, you get an athlete, who will just point blank will not accept defeat, and give everything to ensure they don't.
Think we are seeing that with Hamilton this year.
