Exciting Young Players at Everton

Ah, sorry. I thought you were talking about Martinez changing our set up.

I dont watch enough youth level but its been a good while since someone broke through to Utd's first team. Is it not a case of the youngsters being hyped up because of who they play for? Or do clubs genuinely not manage the transition years from youth to senior set ups correctly?

Well if you just look at Gibson, almost Universally slatted and not rated by anyone. Now look at him.

To people don't rate players at United, because they cant get past the hatred of that club.

United currently have more Ex Academy players playing in the top 2 league's than anyone else.

Its not really about developing Rooney's & Giggs level players, its about a consistent conveyor-belt of Elite players coming through, then hopefully the odd Gem.

There's a problem transitioning from 18 to 22, from boys to men essentially.

England at u16 and u17 level can and have matched anyone in the world. We fall down as soon as it becomes a men's game. The reasons are many.

How's Matty Kennedy been playing this season? I know Moyes put him on the bench a few times but he seems to have vanished.

McFadden MkII

Head down, runs into no mans land down blind alleys and isn't fond of using his other foot.

The best I have seen is young Tyias Browning, great defender but been playing midfield lately, really good prospect

Who's the young lad, in the under 16's I think, who is banging in goals for fun? Am sure he scored 4 in one game the other week

Delial Brewster is the one who scored 4 goals. I think he was out injured most of last season and only recently returned to full fitness. He was selected for an England youth squad about a year ago before his injury.

It's a hard question to answer, all you can really say is who's doing well for this stage of their development. People tend to run away with names, pretty much like the opening post of this thread!

Jonjoe Kenny and Ryan Ledson are doing well at this stage. Everton withdrew Kenny from England U17 duty so he could play in 2 U21 games for Everton against Man City and Reading instead, he's keeping Ben McLaughlin out of the team so he's doing well.

Obviously everyone knows about Ryan Ledson now and like Kenny he's doing better at this stage than would be expected. I like James Graham, but he needs to be a bit more forceful and aggressive.

Hah, so I'm running away with myself for mentioning a crop of decent young players that we have in our underage squads in conjunction with a manager that is known for trying to bring youth through?

All I said was there was potential to develop some great players, not that we have x amount of world class youngsters...

Note to self, don't show any sense of optimism surrounding Everton and for heavens sake definitely don't make any attempt to create a thread that may facilitate some sort of Everton discussion.

Was looking at the 'young players' we are looking at offering contracts to and when you list them out:

Coleman- 25
Stones- 19
Barkley- 20
McCarthy- 23

Even McGeady, Mirrallas and Gibson are just over mid twenties.

Could we be looking at this team growing in stature together for years to come? Could this be our best opportunity of breaking into that coveted top 4? Keeping these lads at the club, nurturing the players coming through and adding good young players along the way.

Its kind of exciting when you think about it, I know its a big IF but if we can add one or two good quality, energetic young players that add some class and we keep these lads at the club they could develop together to become a really top side.

Just wondering who are the latest up and coming players at the moment that we should be excited about. I've heard a few names banded about but not really had the same buzz that were around the likes of Barkley, Baxter, etc. Some of the names I've seen are:

Conor Mcaleny - 21 now, if he was going to make it, he would have done something by now
George Green - Hopefully we will see something from him next season
Ryan Ledson - Heard encouraging things about this kid, do you think he will play next season?

Are there any other players that are breaking through?

I would like to hear peoples opinions on McAleny and Lundstram. I always hear good things about these lads but surely they're approaching crunch time over their Everton futures.

Green's meant to be the buisiness, but I recall Martinez saying he's a fair way off the first team. Also, I always read good stuff about Chris Long. I do hope we'll see some of these lads get a chance next season.
