Everton's loan haven is attracting other clubs, says Roberto Martínez

We have to do what's best for the club right now. At the moment, the loan market is ideal and is being utilised to the full.

To all the nay-sayers: would you rather us be without Lukaku and Deulofeu, be they permanent signings or otherwise?

I'm all for realism, but let's see where this takes us because it's looking good from here.

Plus, I think it will be a bit of a wake-up call to those English youth players who develop entitled attitudes due to the hyping of young English talent (not that i'm saying our youth are like that. yet.) You're going to think twice about being a johnny big-bollocks when a few of the barca lids are nutmegging you for fun in training.

couldn't help but thing of JDawg and smile

It's a win win situation for us. Martinez has shown to be very shrewd in the loan market so far, this can only benefit the club on and off the field.

The thing that i really like about this, is that for the future If we are in competition to sign a good young player with other teams in the league, it may swing it in our favor being known as a team who prides itself on the development side, not only for loans but for attracting young players on permanent deals

There is another part of quotes that only appear in Mirror: Everton loan stars' success will help not hinder bids for top players says Roberto Martinez

Mirror said:
But Martinez is confident there are many more young stars out there who can help his side just as Lukaku and Barcelona sensation Deulofeu have done... and he is not concerned about the short term nature of the deal.

"All I am interested in is having players to surround the strong core - and we have got the core," he said. "They set standards and they set direction. They show how a player should represent Everton. I am delighted with that.

"You then look for that little bit of freshness. It could be short term. But we are very happy to look after the player and benefit them."

It's no good trying to make a virtue out of a necessity. It's something we have to do (and we have a manager who can be flexible and operate that way), but it's a recipe for treading water.

We have people in control of the club who are letting us down badly. Regardless of the obvious fact that they have not (and will not) put a penny into the club themselves, there is huge amounts of cash coming into Everton from tv revenue and player sales, but the manager is not getting the benefit. It's either diverted into some arcane costing on the accounts or simply credited to paying down debts that never seem to get any smaller year on year.

This loan strategy just underlines how poorly run and off the pace we are as an organisation.

Is right, Dave. The loan market has worked well for us this season but it does,nt hide the fact we have a couple of tramp chancers sitting in the main stand pretending to be something there not.

We are skint. We've always had a small squad. Moyes loaned players all the time but most of them were gash apart from Pienaar and Donovan.

The only difference is that Martinez actually loaned some quality.

It's good for the short term but almost impossible to sustain for more than a couple of seasons. What we have to hope, other than a dramatic change in finance/ownership, is that the loan market can provide us with the temporary quality to qualify for the CL. It's the only way we'll significantly improve our income and attract top players permanently.

But there's certainly no disgrace in bringing in a young player who's not ready to play for Barca or someone of similar stature. And it's not like we've started Deulofeu whenever Barca tell us to, either: while their reason for loaning him is so they get a better player back, ours is so he can contribute effectively to the team. Which he has. The Lukaku loan is a little different as it seems the player pushed for it because he wanted regular football, which he deemed unlikely under Mourinho. He's good enough to start regularly for Chelsea right now, so we're not really doing them many favours in readying him for their first team (although we are taking points off their rivals).

I think we all hope that in a year or two a player who can't get into the Real/Barca/Bayern/Chelsea/etc. first team wouldn't be getting into ours. We'll see.

we've been reduced to openly touting for other clubs players to develop them. feeding off scraps from the big boys table, because, lets face it, we will never be able to afford our own.

When other clubs are owned by billionaires who pump endless amounts of money into a club then exactly what else do you do to compete? Its smart, it may not be a sustainable long term plan, but for now it keeps Everton at the right end of the Premier League table, which is vital.

It may surprise some to know that at various times in 2013 Everton have had 8 players out on loan. One in particular has returned and has every chance of being a World class star.

Lundstram(twice) Duffy Garbutt McEleny (injured) Gueye Junior Hammar Barkley

This experience has done none of these players any harm at all (except poor McEleny of course).

If we got champs league we could loan 4 more players next season whilst signing Barry + one potential superstar (lukaku?). If this worked again for another season we could then sign another of these players (deulofeu?) Whilst loaning another 4 players*following season.

Can't see him leaving Barca unless he is forced out. I know he has a release clause of 30m but Everton would never pay 30m for a player

The more successfull we are as a club the more of a sh*tstorm it causes.
All fuelled by the media.
The fact is Football is a game with rules and we are playing within them.
When Watford fielded 9 loan players against Palace last season where was the Guardian then?
