Everton's loan haven is attracting other clubs, says Roberto Martínez

It'd be cool if it helps us get top four when we can actually look to invest money into the squad for the first time ever.

I can only see this as a good thing tbh.

Until weve got some rich sugar daddy prepared to pi55 away millions on a player and not flinch, for me its the way forward, to add depth to a squad of players without any financial risk.

Spurs have spent £110M on what appears to be mostly 5hit that cant handle the prem. Bet spurs are wishing right now they had signed Lamela on loan instead of spunking £30M of the Gareth Bale transfer on him.

Any signing is a risk no matter how much you pay. Young talented European players even more so.

People need to accept that financially, this is where we are.

If Real, Barca, Bayern all see Everton as the prem version of the literal school of science and we establish ourselves as a top 4 club over the next 3/4 seasons through young talented loans then ill have that all day long.

Without selling the club this would appear to be the only way to get that CL revenue through the door and make some of them permanent signings.

I see this as a massively positive thing for Martinez and the club. His contacts, style and phylosophy is the only reason were in this position. Not only clubs are looking at us now but young players will be too.

Sorry if thats already been posted i only read the first page cos im in work

Well articulated and agree 100%. As a short term model, Everton's loanee system is working splendidly. It's win-win for loaner and loanee so works for me.
I like that we are looking at some very young(future) talent as well (those Scottish lads apparently). This is where the scouts and a managers football nous are so valuable. Buy assets when they are cheap and let them appreciate on our books

How many players do Everton currently have out on loan? More than the number of loans we've brought in, or not?

this court case the players union are taking against the current transfer system will change it all anyway so the current situation wont last for much longer.

no way will they ever get that through. The bosman was bad enough in terms of the effect it had on clubs money going out of the game and to players and agents.

This basically says contracts are worthless and players should be able to move clubs wherever and whenever they want.

Never gonna happen imo

I think its clear to everyone that the League is unfair. But right now were the best in every possible way. Whats to complain about. Were take the sugar daddies players and beat them.

The biggest issue here is the fact that teams like Chelsea are buying players like Lukaku for that kind of money with no intention of playing him straight away, leaving the player to get frustrated and meaning not many clubs could afford to outright buy him.

we've been reduced to openly touting for other clubs players to develop them. feeding off scraps from the big boys table, because, lets face it, we will never be able to afford our own.

Your talking b***ocks mate. We are allowed 4 loans a season. No more than anyone else. Most clubs in the league have at least 2 or 3. What on earth can be wrong with the top teams in Europe WANTING to loan us their best young talent in order to develop them properly. That's the whole point of the loan system.

It's not embarrassing in the slightest. It's a sign that we are doing things the right way.

If we can't afford the players right now, why refuse the opportunity to loan quality players in, so we can push on and get the CL spot that will bring in the money to buy the players we want.

...yeah, fair enough mate. But at this stage we need to exercise pragmatism. If the loan system serves as an acorn allowing EFC to become a mighty oak (which can then generate its own acorns) , then I am for it

Great comment mate. I wish I had your eloquence. Have some rep!

the current system will definately change imo, to what is anyones guess

Great news, a brilliant business model to use that exploits the current system and allows us to bridge the gap.

It is not embarrassing in the slightest; anyone who thinks that simply has antiquated thinking.

Football has changed in the last 10 years. The 'scraps' from billionaire-owned clubs are £20m+ players. What 'scraps' to get on loan and to help us!

Such loans can help us regularly qualify for Europe & in the process improve the clubs finances, hopefully to the point that we can adopt a more traditional asset based business model.

But this will more than do us right now, it is perfect.

Im proud of what Bobby is doing. Moist couldnt have signed Deu..never. Martinez attracts players, he has contacts. Anyone who cant see the beauty in this situation is a bit blind imo

embarassing

Seriously, if this wasn't such a stupid comment, it'd be hilarious.

If you can't grasp the fact, that due to the success of Martinez treatment of 2 future World stars of the game, that we're now viewed as a preferred destination for up & coming talent from all over Europe, is a massive positive for the club, then you need to go lock yourself away with your 80's programmes & give the game up man.

The loan system is used by most clubs these days, it's the way the game has developed. Even across the park with their far bigger budgets, they've got 2 high profile loan players. So the fact that we've got ourselves into a position where we can gain maximum value from this channel, is a massive boost for the club.

It's no good trying to make a virtue out of a necessity. It's something we have to do (and we have a manager who can be flexible and operate that way), but it's a recipe for treading water.

We have people in control of the club who are letting us down badly. Regardless of the obvious fact that they have not (and will not) put a penny into the club themselves, there is huge amounts of cash coming into Everton from tv revenue and player sales, but the manager is not getting the benefit. It's either diverted into some arcane costing on the accounts or simply credited to paying down debts that never seem to get any smaller year on year.

This loan strategy just underlines how poorly run and off the pace we are as an organisation.
