Everton's loan haven is attracting other clubs, says Roberto Martínez

Loan system is there to be exploited and if other teams and that aren't using it then, advantage us.

Top European sides throwing us young players is something that I think Bob will look to take a hold of.

It's best to try and get players on loan that need a fresh start. Players that are looking to come in and make an impact with the view of getting a contract with the club rather than just getting them for a year until their parent club want them back. Need to build stability and friendships in a sqaud. Tha's how we got the likes of Peanut, Howard and Barry(As i think he'll end up staying)

it's like Moyes has fkd off with his smelly old bowls of oats and haggis,

now Martinez comes in waving his spicey chorizo sausage and everybody wants to take a bite

it's very refreshing

Meh. I long for the day it's us loaning our youngsters out around Europe for experience but that's not going to happen any time soon.

If it enhances the squad then brilliant but it's not a sustainable model and there'll be plenty of occasions when a youngster gets home sick/doesn't live up to his billing.

It is a touch embarrassing, us been seen a 'stepping stone', but if it helps us be successful then it won't be long before we're seeking our own feeder clubs.

I hope we don't keep this loan mentality for the years to come, we loan 3 or 4 players every season the team spirit may deflate. Different faces coming and going year in and out would eventually do damage to the future. Unless we sign them at the end of the loan. I'd love to sign Lukaku and get Del on a second loan.

this for me, one loan a season coming in wouldn't be too bad providing we get atleast 1 or 2 permanent money signings in with the TV deal each season alongside it.

As I said, I don't think it's a viable model. Can't think of any team that's enjoyed consistent success with a similar system. If the ambition is to finish in the top 4 regularly (and it should be) then we really can't be relying on young kids no matter how talented to do that for us.

embarassing

your curdled comments continue to 'whey' on this forum. To succeed against the mega bucks clubs you have to have a model that offsets those clubs financial advantage. The loan model (coupled with identifying youth talent and bringing them through as contracted Everton players) is just one such model.

lad, even if we had 11 loan players on the pitch and we won a cup or got top 4 I really wouldn't be arsed.

...yeah, fair enough mate. But at this stage we need to exercise pragmatism. If the loan system serves as an acorn allowing EFC to become a mighty oak (which can then generate its own acorns) , then I am for it

Obviously for the short term it's great, but rather we weren't daddy day care for the 'bigger' clubs youth players.

If the players that are coming in are potentially world class players (as Lukaku and Deulofeu are) and belong to one of Europe's elite teams, then we haven't got a hope in hell of signing them anyway. Deulofeu was wanted by Arsenal and they'd be doing just the same with him as we are, only they'd probably play him less. I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed to be in their position as a club.

I don't think it should be seen as embarrassing. The way I see it if teams are queueing up to give us their players, then the ball is in our court and we can pick and choose who we want, if any at all, and on our terms.

The only way we are going to push on is by having better players. If, for the meantime that's going to be by in large players on loan, then so be it. It'll get us higher up the table and hopefully eventually we'll be able to afford our own world class players without as much fear of losing them.
