I know Everton has set up a development centre within the last 2 years for the 5-9 year olds age group, in my neck of the woods. Of course this type of set up is for the boys having a trial and naturally anyone good enough would be sent down to USM Finch Farm to join up with the respective age groups.
You can't underestimate the likes of Barkley and now Davies is having on the recruitment of footballers. I have met many parents who support city and united, but speak glowingly about the youth set up at Everton and how they give youngsters a chance. The progression of these academy players into our first team is the best 'selling point' the club could have, in trying to entice young talent to Everton. When you consider if the competition round here from city and united that is no mean feat.
Random thought but wouldn't it be easier for a City fan to send their kid to Everton instead of United and vice versa? One would think a City fan would jump at the chance to have their kid play for City but if they don't come in and United do...why not Everton?
