Everton Youth Teams Thread

..they have been poor. You can see how Solanke swaggered through the youth ranks with his size and power but as they grow older the others catch up. England holding on here.
Guinea are dominating? Do they look a good side or more England not doing well?

...tuornament footy for me. You often start off with a performance like this. Guinea are awkward, big, strong and fast.

Dowell opens them up and Kenny misses a glorious chance of winning it in injury time. Smashes it into the side netting instead of finishing across the keeper. Bad miss.

Looks nothing special at all him

..he's very wooden isn't he? Lack of quality up top might find them out.

Lookman wasn't dynamic but showed bits of quality I thought. Glided past a defender and hit a thunderous left foot drive in the 2nd half. Dowell put Armstrong in when he came on and did his chances no harm.

from the little i seen i cant see them leaving dowell out again.

..I love watching him thread those little passes behind the back four. As I say he put Armstrong in on goal and then started the move that led to Kenny's miss. Never breaks into a sweat but that left foot reminds me a little of Sheedy.

I wonder if a strong tournament could be just the tonic he needs going into next season?

Great achievement to have all 5 lads involved today.

Should have been a " Made in Everton " winner there with Dowell supplying Connolly, on to DCL who layed it off to Kenny to hit side netting. Dowell brings something different to this team , possibly the only attacking player who doesn't try to beat his man but as we've always known a sublime left foot that opens up defences with his through balls. Lookman looked very comfortable coming inside with the ball, tricky skills that with a bit more development will be match winning skills. Kenny and Connolly were reasonable without being outstanding, Kenny was very much what we have come to expect of him. Connolly got beaten for pace a couple of times by pacy wingers, but his defensive positioning has improved , seems better at knowing when to hold back to watch his man and as usual appeared in the opposing box a few times. DCL not really on long enough to make an impact except right at end.
