I respect a lot of what you say but they obviously do something very well. How many of those named above did they buy in?
Id say three at most.

They recruit really well mate. And spend heavily.

But I dont think they convert that well. A lot of their best young players had to leave Chelsea to develop. KDB, Salah, Lukaku etc.

The evidence is quite huge they make and develop good players.

What on earth evidence do you have to state they don't develop players?

I'm not sure the evidence is there at all. I think the evidence is they identify good players but dont maximise their ability.

In the last year we have taken a lad who couldnt get a game for Preston, and sold him to a side in the CL. He didnt waste years on loan. We probably give more teenagers, more opportunities than any team over the course of the PL.

Anthony Gordon is the exception rather than the rule.

Can you hand on heart state you'd recommend your 16 year old to sign for Everton over Chelsea?

But you can count on 2 hands the number of lads his age and under who have been sold for £40m up front, with add ons attached. So of course it's the exception. But it proves the theory, that we took a lad who honestly wouldnt have stood out in Chelsea's youth teams, and I got him to a CL team in 12 months.

As for what I'd recommend, youd have to look at the deal wouldnt you? But I'd probably avoid clubs where my lad was being farmed out on loan here there and everywhere, and want him to have a settled environment where he would get a chance to play in their first team. That would be more likely at Everton than Chelsea from what I can see.

I think we have took the money but there were rumours last summer he wouldn't sign schoolboy forms so this is not a big surprise.

Do you think they got the most out of say RLC, who was ahead of Alli as a 16 year old? Or Salah, KDB, Lukaku etc?

They identify wonderful players, but I'm not sure they bring them through so well.

Chelsea are way way ahead of us with their Vision 2030 project. They’ve got targets like getting 15% of their first team minutes from Academy players and are putting in the money to back it up . Due to Brexit they can’t go abroad now so are spending heavily in the UK market

Oh no, well he is that kid, Morgan must still be at Chelsea then but either way point remains on the fee.

Not 100% clear yet but I assume we offered him a new contract which he refused. His old contract ran out on his 17th birthday in June. The £4m figure quoted would be a compensation fee negotiated with Chelsea to avoid the bother of a tribunal (so likely a Small situation)

And I have to say, I am disappointed at this situation, but they may look at the Small situation and take the view that 4m with a sell on is not a bad trade off at this point in time.

So assuming then we have agreed a deal on our terms, otherwise we would let it go to a tribunal wouldnt we? Was reading somewhere that they normally include a sell on fee so hopefully if he was going anyway we have got a decent deal.
