We have quickly forgotten the insanity that followed Koeman and the spending splurge! i am all for a bit more positive thinking, but dont let it slip into delusion again, and lets remember that hubris is a great leveller! We have drawn one game against a newly promoted club! Deep breath, count to ten, give head the mildest of wobbles and lets take things slowly! (I might actually use that as a chat up line?)

This game will be very interesting for me as I still have a very strong memory of how awful we were against them back in May. This is a great opportunity to see how big of an impact Silva has had so far on the team. I believe we will see Bernard and Zouma, and at least one Cenk goal.

Just hope silva has got the back bone to drop baines he hasnt got the legs to keep up with Richarlison. Id play sig deep aswell probably try Richarlison down the middle lookman and walcott left and right. Bring bernard on 70 min

£18M says he has.

southampton are crap, hardly improved as well since nearly going down, we have improved massively

should put a few past these, they were woeful against burnley yesterday

First home game of the season. Great opportunity to show the improvements after our last home game of the season. Need to try and get behind them.

Really looking forward to this, Marco’s first proper home game as manager. Give Seamus the armband. Start Digne for the home games and Baines for the aways. Get Bernard on the bench, give him 10 at the end.

Pickford
Coleman Keane Holgate Digne
Schneiderlin Gana
Walcott Gylfi Richarlison
Tosun

4-0 to Everton.

I definitely don't think we'll see Berni, but Zouma might be in after having a full week of training with us and already more than adapter to England and the Premier League. I think we'll see changes happen very slowly, so I also don't expect to see Digne for a few games yet, and even then Baines will likely still get his fair share of games.

Mina I can only see coming in around September, probably after the international break. Gomes should hopefully be ready around then too. In fact, I see that as being the time when the majority of our squad should be in peak physical condition.

Would like to think that our defence will be Digne-Zouma-Mina-Coleman by then, but wouldn't surprise me to still see Keane stinking the place out while the other two 'adapt' to our squad.

Looking forward to this, bringing my son over from Dublin for his first game. I was a bit worried before Saturday that we'd be looking at the first couple of months been about the squad gelling but we looked pretty decent. I think not flooding the side with new signings helped, hopefully we'll see another one or two on the bench on Saturday but I don't see big changes from the side that started v Wolves.

Spot on!
I don't think that Zouma and Bernard will start, however I got a feeling that this will be the game in which Silva will give them some minutes. Obviously, the adaptation will be easiest for Zouma, but Bernard is the perfect player for unlocking defenses and, baring in mind the upcoming fixtures, I think Silva will speed up his introduction.
