I hope so too Dave... COYBGood piece Andy, keep sending them in, hope they can keep it up on Sunday, if they can't maybe you can show that your
as good a moaner as loads of us, hope you don't have to!!!!
I just dont understand to be honest how some neglect to appreciate that yesterday Kiev came and sat deep like most teams coming to goodison are doing. Where is this space that people think is there but we don't use it?
Great post @Andy Dunn
You have to ask the question, why do teams set up like that against us? They set up more defensively against us than they do against City and Man Utd, on balance.
The reason is because, so long as possession is our number one priority, having 10 men compact sitting behind the ball totally negates our style; we aren't passing with purpose, playing the ball directly, creating quick ways to burst up the pitch, we're simply passing the ball from one player (usually a defender) to the next (usually a defender).
It's frankly shocking that Martinez hasn't addressed this. It is a case of being pragmatic - set up the team to face the opposition in front of you, allow them time on the ball and make use of space in the counter and play more directly when we do have the ball.
When teams realise sitting back isn't effective against us, they won't set up like that anymore.

The thing is, you cant attack like maniacs for 90 minutes. And the build up play isn't 'slow' so much as lateral, which is natural on many occasions when you're trying to work a team and find space between their lines.
There's no gung-ho up and at em football anymore. This is the modern era and screaming for the ball to be worked into the opposition half asap is prehistoric.
Moyes has gone. Let's let his clueless brand of football die with him.

...niche marketing. Mind you , the gap in GOT's nice guy market is more a Grand Canyon than a niche....Andy Dunn saw a gap in GOT's nice guy market and just went for it.
Spot on
The fact that we looked far more dangerous when we had kiev players facing shoes that the play needs to me mixed up

Thanks for the comment, I love hearing others views and how we all see the same game differently and I agree with what you have said about what happens when teams come to play us. Like Leicester, West Brom (To name 2) but what I would say to counter your point is that in the second half last night we DID slice through Kiev when we moved the ball quickly and with quality, so by stretching the game with width and and making the opposition predictable we can play in a way that allows our best players to thrive. Im not opposed to biding our time and being patient in fact Im more than happy for us to be patient but at times we have to find the gap and drive into the space. Unfortunately space doesn't happen when you allow the other team to camp out. You displace teams and find gaps by moving the ball with pace. Just my opinion though! Thanks for the reply and taking the time to read my post!
