I get your point, but stretching it a bit. Coleman, Jags, Baines, Kev, er, Ross, first team squad. Not 100% sure the kids breaking through can be laid at his door. Unless I have missed sommet.

No but that's what I mean exactly. Jagielka comes in today - Allardyce can still rely on a Moyes stalwart. Martinez's best iteration was built entirely on Moyes foundations ( Baines / Coleman/ Jagielka / Mirallas) and Koeman used much the same players last year. And that's four years ago.

How many Martinez players (only 18 months ago) started today? Think it is just one.

Moyes left more to inherit and develop than anyone and he built it on much the same pragmatism that allardyce is going for; just flagging that we used to hate him doing this against the top sides

I honestly reckon we should ask "Unsy" back in to manage us. Reckon a lot of us would like the idea of being bottom 3 "but at least we give it a go". I mean, that's ok with me and all, as long as y'all can explain why we spend our next, what? 5, 10, 20 seasons outside the top flight. Something we pride ourselves on NOT doing, I believe. Said it before, pretty, sexy football comes when we have the points and the players to play it. Until then? Buckle up. You're in for an ugly ass, points gaining ride. KOB

Total nonsense! give the man a chance and listen to what he says. Let us see who he buys. If he buys cloggers and hoofers then I'm with you. Until that time we are unbeaten and he's only done what he said we would do

Ugly, sure. However, the piece of mind that an organized defense gives is refreshing. Recall, if you will the days of Martinez where every time the other side had the ball one could safely assume they would score. Or the turgid and ineffective performances of Koeman's teams. I'll take ugly and assured over that every day.

I’ll reserve judgement until Sam gets his own players in, I’m not a fan of this negative backs to the wall stuff but we do look incredibly solid

And we will again, while we are still in this re-build/stability stage, style of play is not the priority. But it will become an issue.

But we aren't (currently) in a relegation scrap.

Going into today we had 25 points - same as we had after 19 games last year and qualified for Europe. We approached that today like a team with 15 points from 18 games.

After recent results today was a free roll and we spent the entire match wellying it.
Under Moyes we had a better balanced squad. I'll take not getting beaten by the top 6 and beating the minnows.
Could of actually done with a Lookman or Vlasic to break the lines today, but unlucky to have to make that 3rd sub so soon. Bit baffled by Sandro over the Prince though.

(Sorry that I'd picked your post to randomly reply to mate)
