Just got back, we rode our luck at times but the character shown in the second half especially was pure Everton. Special mention to Naiymar, Aryan king of men.

p.s. How boss was that fist pump from Baines when he took his first corner at the Gwladys / Bullens corner? Lump in the throat stuff. Love you too Leighton.

What's our name?

Just arrived home *hic*

Played blues, that's what we like. Rode our luck with a few chances (Eto'o probably should have had two down my end and Schurrle should have slotted, but it's about time we had some luck this season imo.

Gareth Barry. Excellent performance. Wreaked of Carsley in his pomp with more than a little bit of quality too. He'll be loved in the Gwladys Street this year, especially by the arl fellas who love a good strong, calm consistent "keep it simple" player in front of that back four. He's going to be very popular.

No one else was really great I thought. It wasn't a good footballing performance at all, but we were without Gibbo and Pienaar and we still have McCarthy to come in and Lukaku to come in who won't fall over every time the ball comes within 10 yards of him, which is promising.

It is a shame how much Baines seems to miss Pienaar though. The South African is getting on now and if we want to bench him in future we need to find a way of playing that allows Baines to be effective. I don't think him and Mirallas works tbh. At least not yet.

Buzzing to have 3 points now. That's a monkey off our backs. Also, this makes up for a couple of points that we dropped in the first three games as it's a game no one seemingly outside Evertonians expected us to win. What we need to do now is get consistent and not let this be a stop-start opening to the season. Let's beat West Ham and get into the 4th round of the CoC and it'll have been a strong start to the season.

...think you mean 'that's an albatross from round our neck'. A monkey off ones back is beating an addiction

first time at goodison for me since the united game last year - forgot how amazing nights like tonight are at that place. BUZZ - ING

There was times in the game when we were under pressure but we defended very well. Jags and Distin were great as usual. When Howard gave that ball away first half I thought "here's a goal" Gareth Barry seemed to appear out of nowhere and make an excellent block. As soon as that happened he won over the fans, Barry was great throughout and showed professionalism of the highest standard. You can't buy that. Ross Barkley looked keen going forward and we were urging him to shoot a bit sooner, he still played well but it was his biggest test this season and he never played bad.

I think it could be the end for Jelavic, Lukaku will probably go straight in next week and I don't think we'll be seeing as much of Jelavic again.

I think Mirallas looked more threatening in the forward role, needed more support up there though.

Naismith was 50/50. He's got heart and ethic but gave the ball away a few times, he made up for it with the goal and done ok.

McCarthy came on with determination, got stuck in and we'll see the best of him is still to come. Good lad.

One of Osmans better performances today but doesn't hide the fact he's losing the pace that's required for the ever growing premier league.

Good solid Everton performance and we matched Chelsea in midfield. Very good defensively as well. I still think we need a little bit more work in the final third but it's coming together nicely.

Great save in the first Half from Howard, can't remember who had the shot.

Just one question, did Hazard have yellow boots on?

You have held some rather foolish dispiriting opinions, your dejection at Evertons victory therefore makes perfect sense

It's all very well buying "word of the day" toilet roll, but if you don't understand the words there's every chance you'll use them out of context. At least you tried.

Not dejected at all pal, very happy with the result. Not quite sure how we pulled it off though.

Thats a great summary lad. I thought Barry was excellent........

Gareth Barry you beautiful human being.

It's about time we had someone who either tackles or fouls when the opposition attack, Gareth Barry is a revelation. We got 15 million for Rodwell, and Barry is twice the player he'll ever be.
Lets have mirallas up front if Lukaku isn't available, as sad as it is, jelavic is shot.

I apologise to Naismith, well played lad. Howard nearly needed chinning. Barry is an excellent bit of business... Cant wait now to get Lukaku out there
