My first year as a season ticket holder was 1994 - which was the Mike Walker campaign which Joe Royle took over in the November - and I genuinely haven't felt that depressed about the state of our club, the pointlessness of the manager since then. Even when it was bad under Smith at least you felt he was trying, whereas Benitez just seems to do things purely to P**s everyone off. Utterly baffling how we are in this situation.

In the game at their place Everton played a back four, so why at home does the manager feel the need to match Brighton’s system. Every match starts the same, no intensity, let the opposition dictate the play. The worry for me was the reaction of the crowd today, it’s like we’ve accepted our fate. There’s no question the squad is poor but Benetiz hasn’t been able to get a tune out of them so far and if he can’t turn it round pretty sharpish he’s got to go.

Well done Benitez, I’m not even annoyed, I just feel empty. Notice quite a few of the usual posters seem to be absent this evening.

That team selection was baffling in the extreme. It seemed to be shut up shop and don't concede then hope for a winner from a set piece. Godfrey, Keane and Holgate were all at sea and Coleman had to constantly come back on his right foot. Benitez will lose more of the crowd game by game unless it turns around sharpish and we start winning more. The players seem scared at the moment and the atmosphere is becoming more toxic, it was notable that Rondon went straight down the tunnel at the end.

I couldn’t make it to the match today because of a family emergency, but relegation is a very real prospect now.

It’s a very old adage but it’s true: if you can’t win your home matches, when you’ve got the crowd right behind you and all those home advantages, then you’re in trouble.

You were nearly right with Digne being the best player but he would have two rivals in Gray and Gordon.

Yes Gordon was really good and Gray lively, but wow we were bad.
