Exactly. It would be better if we made the captain someone who figures to be good for awhile. Digne would work. Maybe someone like Yerry or Gomes. Even Richarlison. Just not someone who is 31 and won't be a first team player in 2 years.

With all of the striker links it makes me wonder if perhaps we may be selling DCL or Richarlison. DCL in particular would likely offer significant FFP relief and I suppose there could be some thought of selling while value is high if they think his current level might represent his peak. The homegrown factor might be problematic (the club needs some...) but it also drives up his value.

Most likely answer is it is all rag rubbish, but.....

Milik, Belotti, Edouarde, Poulson

Again, it is most likely all complete jarg, but when there are such obvious positions of glaring need (cb, cm, rw even rb) it seems odd to see multiple links to one of the few positions which is really not a need. Comparatively the depth up front with Richy, DCL and Kean suggests it may now be one of the squads deeper spots.

Simply pondering, likely nothing to it. Just struck me as odd.
