What a ridiculous rule of 5 subs.

Football has changed for the worse so much in the past year with VAR and now this farce.

Nobody seems to like it I can see that getting voted off.

I'm sure the big teams will be working some under the table stuff to keep it.

But my point is, Liverpool had an unhappy player hardly contributing anything for 6 months, because they werent prepared to sell without being able to replace in the same window.

If all the european leagues had the same deadline then they would have been able to sell and replace immediately.

But it still doesn't always work out like that. Deals fall through. So teams can still be in the same predicament with the window closes early or not.

The Coutinho transfer was done in the normal window aligned with Europe wasn't it? So had nothing to do with the window but the lateness of the bid.

Personally don't think it makes that much of a difference. But does mean you'll get more money if a player goes when the English window shuts.

I think they were pushing to sign him in August, when the prem window was already shut. So Liverpool werent prepared to sell. And he spat his dummy out so they had to make up a fake back injury to keep him out the team for a while.

Anyway, the Coutinho thing was just an example.

IMO its not a good idea for prem clubs to have their window shut a month before the rest of europe, and it seems as tho the majority of the prem agree because they voted to change it back a few months ago:

Agreed. Got some good stats, but Villa fans talk about him holding onto the ball too much and being slow in the pass. We don’t need that. We need fast, quick and strong players in their pace and their passing.

We need a few powerful athletes in midfield who can go box to box and a direct and pace right hand side that's what we need.
