It's all one pot but the fact is due to regulatory constraints our wage bill can only go up a certain amount each year, unless however other areas of the business inject funds such as commercial revenue or player trading.

But we got rid of Hibbert, Piennar, Osman and Howard off the payroll.
We could have made some of these signings using this and I'm sure there would be a percentage on top of last years total too.

It's a good point mate, he was on £40k more a week than what we have offered Lukaku so some negotiating will have had to have taken place

Will be interesting to see how this and witsel play out, I figure they are the only two marquee names really left in the hat now. Both need to be gotten over the line to salvage the window in my opinion.

We would have been able to make signings, but only on modest wages - we wouldn't be able to offer the wages the likes of Mata/Witsel etc would have been looking for. Now Stones has gone, we can. Transfer fees were never an issue, only increases to the wage bill.

Not done with being a Blue, done with just accepting a load of old cobblers. I hoped the days of "plucky little Everton" might be behind us and then we go shopping in Swansea and Sunderland whilst clubs without a tenth of our history pluck our best players and our own fan base tell us we should be pleased. I'm done with being a passive blue, a defeatist blue we should all grow some balls and have some damned ambition. You want our best players, tough, do one. £47M is only any good if we can spend it on improving our squad, only a moron could think Gueye, Stekelenberg, Willaims and Kone are taking us in to europe. It's a joke and I won't be told by you or any other goochguzzler on here that I'm not a proper blue because I think this is all a massive lack of ambition and a continuation of the decline of this once great club.

You and your ilk need to hold the club to account. And if you don't then you are part of the problem.

my original post was to point out that people are getting a tad over excited given the window hasnt closed and we havent kicked a ball this season yet. Not sure I fully understand the connection between growing balls and ambition but enjoying the discussion so far!
