I have no desire to see this man pass away, however the bare facts of his reign are there for all to see.

We have fallen massively behind the likes of Utd, Arsenal and even the RS and Spurs. We are no longer contenders for any trophies at all, which we were under Royle and possibly even before that under HK mk2. While our rivals have proven European managers (LVG, Klopp, Wenger, Pellegrini, Mourinho) we remain committed to a 3rd probable mid-table season with a Wigan manager whose command of English stretches to 'phenomenal' and 'unique'.

To those who say 'ah but at least we aren't Blackburn, Cardiff, Villa etc) I say that a club our stature would never have to stoop to the levels of the aforementioned clubs allowing chancers like the Venkys or Tan to gain control. If and when Kenwright departs I am certain we will be able to attract proper and serious levels of investment without the likes of Blue Bill blocking the way due to some misguided sense of mission.

He's one man and one man alone should not be able to hold the club back for nigh on 20 years which is what has effectively happened at Everton.
You're a heaving anus.

Massively unsavoury discussing his health in this thread. Have a word.

It depends in what context though Bryan. I would say his health is quite pertinent to whether the takeover rumours are true etc, this could play a massive role in whether a deal will be done, hence why some fans will discuss it. If its just in a mawkish manner that fans are discussing then i agree its unsavoury.

I do think though that these takeover rumours and rumours of Bills health go hand in hand at the moment unfortunately and it could well be difficult to separate one from the other.

Gents, this thread is specifically about any potential takeover of Everton Football Club. We will start using thread bans if people speculate about Bill's health and the consequences. Other than a limited media report in August of this year anything relating to his health is mere speculation, and in my opinion, speculation of the worst kind.

Thank you

I just hope we get sold asap, whether Bill is healthy or not.

We need new owners, owners who are actually interested in investing in the club.

Time for change.

CHANGE.

There are a number of reasons why investors would look at Everton . It would be hard to get a better time.

1. The money coming into football television has reached incredible numbers and it does look as if it may even increase further. The value of Premiership clubs will only increase further as long as the money coming into the sport continues to increase.

2. In spite of what some on here like to say or believe, Everton is regarded as a well run club with expenditure in line (more or less) with recommended industry norms.

3. There is a large solid loyal fanbase that is unlikely to diminish but could easily be built on.

4.A manager that is highly regarded , a young squad of players that are highly prized , on long term contracts and are worth tens of millions.
The value of Stones,Lukaku,McCarthy, Besic, Barkley, Delofeu, Coleman could nearly build a new stadium for us.
We have seen from other clubs that spending large amounts of money is not a guarantee of having a successful squad.

5. We have that even the wealthiest clubs are concentrating on developing players through the academy system in an attempt to stop constantly spending huge sums of money on new players. Everton have a state of the art academy and an excellent record in developing young players.

6. The ground issue has always been in my opinon the biggest obstacle to a new owner/ investor getting involved. It does appear that there is an opportunity on a specific site to develop a new ground and I would expect that costings are also in place which would give clarity to anybody considering buying the club.

It may never happen, but as a club Everton have many attractions that others may not have.

how much realistically would it cost for us to wipe out all debts, and purchase our training ground / new stadium plot and build?

Not that much besides for the cost of the Stadium really, as a club our debt levels are actually quite low and the training ground i think is owned by LCC now so we shouldn't be held over a barrel pricewise if we wished to purchase it back.

the big one is the Stadium and honestly mate it depends on so many different factors on what the cost of that would be, which land, what size, what design, and so forth

Ballpark figure would be say 250m for the ground realistically and without getting stung by it going over the initial estimates etc, training ground call it 30m and say 40m for all the clubs debt to be sorted - including loans etc, so looking at around 320m really from my napkin math

I think that any new investors will see Everton as a massive opportunity cause thats what it is right now.

Cant be any worse; the only way is up in respect of revenue. Costs will go up (new stadia) but any investors worth their salt will be able to implement a sound investment strategy which sees that pay for itself within 10 years or so.

I leave myself open to being shot down in flames, but my understanding was that the alleged 225 million price tag was based on 100% share acquisition including paying off debts, so in a scenario of say 60 mil debt, the cash price would be 165 mil.

Finch Farm re-purchase would have to be negotiated with the owners, who are the Trustees of the LCC workers' pension fund, so if they were preared to sell and given that they would be required to make a profit and pay penalties, if the original cost to them were 12mil, I would imagine that you would get change from 15mil.
The ground as you say has many variables, in addition to those listed also the availability of grants and funding depending on where it's built.
The funding for the ground is, in my opinion, a potentially thorny issue. There are four possibilities in my mind.
1. Interest bearing loan from the new owners.
2. Rights issue of 1 for 1 based on a debt free valuation of 225 million
3.A mixture of 1 and 2
4. Partial funding by 2 plus an external bank mortgage.

Just some musings. :coffee:

Agree that we need more competition in the squad and that new owners could fix this. A friends Dad said to me a few years back that he thought Everton had a first 11 that was of Champions League quality, but the rest of the squad was not good enough for us to ever really challenge consistently. Looking back he was spot on.
I've always thought this argument held some weight. On paper we've got a pretty sold and quality filled first XI; a team with clear talents.

Probably not a successful Champions League team, but one who'd at least qualify and do 'okay' in the group stages depending on who we got.

The problem is as you rightly mention that those on the periphery are questionable due to not enough competition and susceptible with injuries.

Martinez very rarely rotates and this could easily be that we do not have the quality to fill the void, putting more strain on those in the first XI.
