Only take Lingard if he will accept a 1/2 year deal, even then it won't be cheap. West Ham & Newcastle meant to be interested so he will be able to demand a good wage.

Seen links to Florian Grillitsch again this morning, DM, left hoffenheim on a free, he was supposed to go to Fiorentina, but they are currently not allowed to register new players (not sure why), so according to reports we have been back in touch with his agent. He could be a good one, the lack of a proper tackler in midfield affected everything last season. if we could get him in on OK money and a 2-3 year contract.
Would be a good signing

We just aren't very imaginative in the recruitment department are we?
Thelwell has the easiest job in the world. Literally has no pressure on him and needs no imagination to improve the squad. Just hand him the free transfer list and let him shuffle through the pages.

I reckon our recruitment department actually look at clubs signing players like Raphinha, Kante and Mahrez etc for peanuts where they then contribute well and get sold for a fortune and wonder how they can emulate that.

Then they hit the crack pipe and sign Delph, Tarkowski, Doucoure, Tosun and Alli and decide targeting Winks and Lingard is a good idea

More overpaid 30 year old players who are just looking for their last paycheque is exactly what we need at Everton. We just don't have enough of them.

Deffo need more to shore things up. When one not performing drag on another player with zero motivation who’s been happy to spend his days on the bench for years.

I think it’s unlikely Lingard would choose us, unless he absolutely doesn’t want to leave the North West (which clearly isn’t an issue as he’s been to West Ham and was pushing for a Jan move to Newcastle)

We do seem to do our scouting from a worn out edition of Match of the Day from 2015 though.

Sadly the only reason he would come to us rather than West Ham or Newcastle is because we would be willing to pay high wages. He'll probably demand a longer contract. Even if he performs reasonably in his first season we'll be stuck with him afterwards. If true (and probably not) it smacks of desperation.
