Only you could consider 14 goals a negative.
It wasn't at the time because we had Gueye to cover the absolute chasms being left everywhere. But then we didn't have Gueye and suddenly we stunk. But Sigurdsson went nowhere and it was for me the key issue we had. A player who wasn't a striker who had no impact if he didn't score. At least Richarlison who was similar in possession was a tenacious presser and didn't act as a liability out of possession.

Putting aside the horrific ending, he scored 14 goals in 1 season for us. That stops him getting anywhere NEAR that particular award.
Can’t argue with the 14 goals m, however, the signing, the player attitude and ultimately the ending epitomises everything that is currently wrong with the squad and the current era.

I have never seen Onana (other than u tube) play but what I have read about him he seems to be just what we are looking for, very tall, good with both feet quick and good in the air at both ends of the field, what more do we want.
Sadly it looks like it's a complete pipe dream that we'd be able to get him this window. Lille know they've got a live one there and are under no pressure to sell so you'd have to pay a fortune to get him out of there this window which is far beyond our capacity.

We will have to look elsewhere for that elusive number six (that's if we are even looking for one).

Clement may have seen each of them play when he managed in Belgium - for a short period admittedly.

Very good point ;)

I'd much rather have someone with greater physical presence than those two. I think Winks is a busted flush of a footballer and whilst I think Gilmour could be effective, I think he'd be better slightly further forward with far less defensive responsibility. I think Grillitsch would be a fine free pick up as he's got size, good forward passing and seemingly solid positional awareness and as we seemingly don't have two pennies to rub together can we really do better?

Yes Onana would be a very exciting signing but for that to happen we'd have had to be all over that as soon as the window opened and before Lille had a chance to sell Botman. They can basically ask for whatever they want now and whatever they want is likely to be far more than whatever we have.
Grillitsch has had a number of injuries and seems to be demanding certain things fron clubs which has led to him still being available.

Winks/Gilmour are the same sitting deep playmaker who could look great or terrible depending on a number of factors.

Onana may be a smart play, but Garner at United could be another...who knows.

MGW KLP and Onana all fit the right profile.
