I wonder if young mr Coleman had any influence in who we joined with!

Never really understood the point of these tie ups tbf, been several in the past heralded as something important, only to be never seen or heard of again.....
We have one in Canada with some club too iirc

Whatever happened to the Home Farm link?
Beyond their wearing the 1995 FA Cup final kit albeit with HF crest and renaming the club Home Farm Everton, not a lot. They were always a kids underage academy club rather than a senior side in Dublin. They folded their senior outfit several years ago and left the league of ireland. LOI premier league would be a similar standard to League 1. The top sides (Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers) might survive in the championship. Sligo would be a level below those two. If we could loan a number of our u23's to them, it would be a solid proving ground IMHO.
Sligo have the benefit of being the only club side in the north west and GAA is historically poor standard in that county so they are arguably the main show sporting wise in town there. Of all irish clubs to partner with, Sligo then are probably the best choice right now. And Home Farm were probably one of the worst.

It's a good thing to build bridges with a part of the world we have always had strong connections with. Everton had the first supporters club in Ireland of any English club.

When we start winning trophies again it'll be a useful market to tap into.

A lot of very good players get lost on the North Western Seaboard particularly over here in my opinion, all the main LOI clubs are in big Cities particularly Dublin and in this day and age all those young promising players are already snaffled up at junior level. If you are a young player at a junior club who has a chance and want something in the Cental North/West - your looking at Galway or Sligo, thats how Seamus ended up there. Donegal, Mayo and areas of Galway have seriously fine athletes, football is particularly big in Donegal, this might be a canny little tie up.
