Can you explain why Bolasie has played at striker at all? His skills and decision making is questionable, but I've never seen him out paced or overpowered by anyone even in the PL.

He has to, the only 'real' striker is Santini but he's horrible. The good striker is injured, Dimata, and he won't be back for the season. He did good in the position against Brugge, very poor display in the striker roll against Antwerp so against Standard he returned to the wing. Last resort. If there was a decent striker, no way he would be playing there.

He regularly gets outpaced (not necessarily problematic because of his good dribble, strength, height): Fai (extremely fast midget RB of Standard- his lack of height probably costs him a transfer; was very good when Standard beat Sevilla in the EL), Matta (from Club Brugge), Maehle (best out of the three) ... (all faster than him). Occasionally leads to frustration, like with Matta, always a red - happy that he didn't get one though. It's a bit of bad picture since it's not a good angle and you can't see the second follow-up swipe on the ankle.

Against Standard (the whole 25 minutes) he lost every duel. I would call that overpowered. As did most Anderlecht players. Pretty certain I've seen similar displays of him in the PL.

All that considered he's still having a successful loan spell. Tomorrow it's against Gent, the only other team with zero points in play-off 1. They have a weak defence, has to be doable.

What happened to your team mate I recall them been quite strong in recent times

Championship
Bolton Wanderers - Callum Connolly played full match in 0-2 away defeat to Blackburn Rovers
Joe Williams started and went off injured in the 39th minute of the same match

OS Match Report
"Five minutes in and Wanderers had a glorious opportunity to take the lead through Callum Connolly. A perfectly weighted cross into the Rovers’ penalty area found the Evertonian free at the back post, but unable to direct his header into the back of the goal."
"Following the restart, Connolly almost instantly responded for Phil Parkinson’s men as his shot from close range was saved well by Leutwiler."

Twitter stuff
Wanderers are causing @Rovers a few problems in the early stages and after @craignoone got the better of Ryan Nyambe, his cross was headed over at the far post by @Callum1connolly. Good chance! (5)
A clever through ball from Sammy Ameobi is latched onto by @Callum1connolly and he sees a shot from inside the box, kept out by Jayson Leutwiler. (51)

No particular comments about their performance.

West Bromwich Albion - Mason Holgate started and was substituted in the 61st minute of a 0-0 draw at Reading

OS Match Report

No particular comments about him.

Wigan Athletic - Antonee Robinson played full match in a 2-0 home win over Preston North End

OS Match Report
"Latics got themselves in front when Antonee Robinson’s cross fell to Naismith, who squared for Clarke to tap home."

Twitter stuff
11' ⚽️ GET IN!! WHAT A START!! @Antonee_Jedi's cross from the left isn't dealt with at all, Kal Naismith stays alive, has the chance to poke it past Rudd, but instead he squares it to Leon Clarke who taps in at close range! (1-0)
53' DANGER!! Latics defending for their lives for a moment! Danny Fox, @Antonee_Jedi and @Chey_Dks throwing their bodies in front of the ball to keep the visitors out! (1-0)
79’ SIDE-NETTING!! Robinson’s surging run up the left side, cuts it back to Clarke, but his low, left footed effort can only ripple past the left post! (2-0)

Fan comment
"Would like to Robinson on loan again next season if possible, really good form the past few games."

League One
Blackpool - Antony Evans started on the bench and came on in the 79th minute of a 2-1 home win over Fleetwood Town

Kieran Dowell was an unused substitute for Sheffield United.
Beni Baningime was not in matchday squad.

What happened to Tarashaj?
He's on loan with an option to buy at Grasshoppers Zurich. So far he has played in 7 matches...

....Robinson’s improved form is interesting given Baines contract situation. I never thought he’d be part of Everton’s pre-season but you never know.

Missed a chunk of the season through injury, struggled a bit on his return but really found form recently; give him a go in pre-season and it will be up to him to impress Marco sufficiently to be kept on as back-up to Digne. Worth a look for me, especially if Baines goes. Similarly, Joe Williams deserves a chance to show what he can do as midfield back-up.
