Reading around about Neil and sounds like Sunderland fans for the most part rate him quite highly but he has had problems with consistency and lapses of concentration during games which has led to some fans getting on his back and wanting him out of the side at times too. Seems quite technically gifted though and capable of getting the ball forward from midfield which is good.

I have no doubt that Moyes will keep us up even with no signings.

The thing is we will have a big change of squad in summer, we seem to have a bit of money and 2-3 additions already now would certainly help to get acustomed to each other a bit quicker. Many new players need some time for that.
With players out of contract, if no signings now in January, we may need something like 10+ signings in the summer which is crazy and would make the life of any manager very difficult to get the team going. We would need plenty of early signings and plenty of friendlies, something we are not very good at.

I'm more concerned about the prospect of a summer of 'dithering davey' given the numbers needed in the summer, simply won't have time for any of Moyes's time taking given players will need to be integrated and there is pre season to contend with. We need a plan and it needs to be ready to go as soon as the season ends.

I cant see Sunderland letting any one go this window with their run in to try for promotion, they will need every player they have. They do have a few decent players though, so they might struggle keeping them all in the summer.

Aye, it would take a fee we probably can't manage to get him, but it's one to keep an eye on if they don't manage to get promoted. Their whole midfield is going to be raided if they don't go up. Neil, Bellingham and Rigg are all players that could play in the PL one day.

Maybe they will just offer some contracts to some.of them..

We really aren’t doing a thing til deadline day when we throw in a stupid nonsense loan with obligation offer for Gnonto which gets laughed out the room, and then end up scrambling around for Sean Longstaff at the 11th hour with a 50/50 chance of success.

Problem is with that is a number of the contracts that are up are ones we have been desperate to rid ourselves from for years, extending them would just start the cycle again and cover for more poor recruitment/scouting. If the likes of Lindstrom can put in a few more performances like the other day then maybe it could save us a bit of hassle in the long run but we shouldn't be falling into the trap of extending the Gana's or the Doucoure's or paying the silly fee attached to Mangala imo.
