Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

The biggest concerns for me are unlike a fair few recent seasons, we go into the second half of the season with numerous key starters having zero investment in what happens to the club and a manager in exactly the same situation.

Out the nominal starting 11 on average 6 won't be here next season as it stands add on the manager and that's 7/12 of key components that if we were t down would simply retire, find a new club with a good signing bonus, go back their parent club etc.

Doucoure, Gueye, Mangala, Young, Coleman, Harrison, DCL all going.
Even the players coming in for them are largely in the same boat, Broja, Lindstrom, Keane etc.

A combination of the fans, the players finally dogging in and managers getting the players buying into the support to dig late escapes out....

Not sure if we have one more left in the locker doing that this season...
This is my fear too, it is affecting motivation. Same happened to Leicester with players contracts running down, when they went.

As sure as day follows night, as soon as we are in the black there are calls to throw money around - we need to be much smarter about it this time - blind ambition is for the oil clubs.
We cannot throw it around like we did due to PSR. But we do need a few shrewd additions

They will sack him, in the summmer.

So lots of dross leaving in the summer, with a fresh new ground, new finances.....could be very nice clean start everyone needs.

Coupld of clever loans in now and we will be sound.
Not so sure mate ,we have maxed out the loans too. I am guessing it will be a few sales and a few incomings. I think relegation is a bigger danger here than you are accepting.

Thought the same, but wasn't convinced once he got a short spell there.

Think he's the only player who can progress the ball, and I reckon now that's best served on the wing where it's easiest to do so - such is our desperation for a ball carrier to get it anywhere up the pitch.

Maybe in a better team, he'd be a better player as second striker/number 10 but not sure.
Living in Sheffield I watched Ndiaye a lot when he was with the Blades. Very good advancing the ball from behind the striker, tricking past defenders and either shooting himself, clever one twos or putting others in.

But Blades fans did not think he defended well from that position
…… do Dyche is never going to put him in ahead of Doucoure on a regular basis

Salah for them lot was bought for £36m that same summer I think

Jack Harrison has a market value in excess of 15 million. Leicester came close to paying 20 million for him in January 2023. They had a bid accepted and a medical took place.

Salah is not a 36 million pound player. He’s a £120 million pound player that the RS got for 35. Similar to Branthwaite being a 60 million pound player that we got for about one million.

Bargains can be had, although they are few and far between. So I don’t think we got mugged off with Sigurdsson tbh. He was definitely worth two Klaassen’s, or a Klaassen, Bolasie and Schneiderlin all put together.

We aren’t going to be able to compete if Everton want to continue paying 10 - 20 million for crap players, whilst Bournemouth, Brighton and Wolves are dropping 40 million on forwards.

Of course, it’s not just about spending money, but you are operating as a small club if you become too scared to spend.

I think Iceland was a decent player for us, just not £45m player. If memory serves I think our opening bid was something like £25m, so to be negotiated up to nearly double, was peak Moshiri. We were kids that had been starved of food under Kenwright, who were given the keys to the sweet shop.

The Salah mention was just a comparison.
