….I was hinting more at Barkley and Countinho with that point. Quality and attitude are definite criteria, I’d add in athleticism and a good injury record.
I’m a bit ambivalent regarding Longstaffe, I haven’t seen enough to make an informed decision, although lots on here think he’s poor &
@ForeverBlue92 says he’ll only improve our bench.
Yes very fair. I think each case merits it's own analysis. With Longstaff, from the bits I've seen of him, I would say he generally always gives 100%. Stylistically he looks like we might need-in that he gets around the pitch well and gets the ball back, but on the ball is more limited. For older readers maybe more Barry Horne than Joe Parkinson. I don't think he has the "dimensions" Doucoure has, but could be a useful sitter. He also looks a big lad, every bit as tall as Joelinton in that interview who is 6 ft 2.
I've seen a lot say he is here as a squad player- which if I'm honest I see little sense in. All you hope, that at age 24, a bit like Gray in the summer, he is perhaps ready for a move and to kick on.
Barkley has gone sideways for a long time, and has never looked fit to me. I could see why the manager might want a loan as he carries the ball well.
Coutinho worries me a bit. We got rid of James to sign Coutinho. I just don't see much learning there, or much of a plan.
