AN ORMSKIRK butchers is being swamped by Everton FC fans who can’t get enough of their blue sausages!
Brough Butchers on Burscough Street invented the toffee and mint concoction with blue skin as a way to support their beloved team ahead of their FA Cup Final appearance against Chelsea this Saturday.
The sausages have become so popular that staff are struggling to keep up with the demand.
Brough’s proprietor Mark Shepherd said: “It has all gone absolutely mental!
“We just can’t keep up with the demand for the sausages. We’ve had to make a new batch every day.
“We were invited to Goodison Park to meet David Moyes and Tim Howard and we took some sausages for them.
“We have even heard rumours that people have started copying us. Supposedly butchers in Blackpool have started making sausages with tangerines in them as Blackpool FC’s nickname is the Tangerines.
“We are expecting a huge rush this week just before the final. We have already got lots of orders for the sausages from pubs around Ormskirk and Southport so they can serve them to supporters on match day.
“The sausages helped drum up some extra support for Everton ahead of the final. Now I just hope that we win!”
