I never really cared mate.
It was tedious, but he was always honest - his press conference when we signed him he spoke of Everton being his next step.
He signed (could have went elsewhere after his loan) and scored loads of goals - more than anyone else in my life time.
He's a bit of a tit, and I reckon the dressing room won't miss him.
He deserves his chance in the Champions League.
We go on, but it's a shame we have a tendency to turn any good player who leaves for a top club a judas.
Thing is, I'm convinced if Lukaku wanted to stay - Koeman/Moshiri would have turned down £150m for him.
You talk a lot of sense here mate. I think with Rom our improvement has probably arrived a summer too late. For Lukaku it is a job and a career, he's an ambitious lad, who used us to get on in his career, and we used him to make ballpark 60 million profit and get a lot of goals. Both sides should have been clear what the arrangement was. We will have to get used to more of this as we continue to improve, players, managers, agents, sponsors, corporate, affiliates etc using us for a period it's convenient to them, the situation changing then they are gone.
Lukaku has given us 4 good years. It won't be easy to replace his goals though I think we will spread them round better. I also think in some ways he was a problem (a nice problem to have) in that he doesn't really fit how the manager wanted to play. If we can add in a Giroud & Rooney to Sandro and get 1 more of say Dembele/Hernandez/Berardi I think we come out of it much stronger.
