Mate we are a very tough physical side but maybe just a touch too reserved and polite. Those utd players today screamed for everything, tried to blag pens, free kicks, throw ins and corners. Sometimes succeeding. They also were aiming to get us to 10 men.
Our only diver today was Young, who's been with teams who do this.
I'd hate us to go down this route, i honestly would, however i think we are disadvantadged by not doing so. How sad the game has become.
But Young did not dive, he was theatrical, but he was fouled. It was a penalty

And the ref gave it. Pen should have stood. Not 5 minutes of fannying about behind the scenes discussing it.
The pen for me could have gone either way. VAR should not be interfering unless an obvious and blatant miscarriage of justice is about to happen.

If he were wearing a red shirt it'd be "there is contact so the ref has no choice". They say that whether the players legs fly into the air like they are tethered to a passing plane or they take a few more steps before collapsing. As usual the sport is played to different regulations depending on who is on the receiving end of the decision.

Don't agree with the last line. The overdramatic leap was what got the referees attention. That's why he gave the pen in the first place. If he hadn't, VAR would have had the result they wanted all along. They sure as hell wouldn't have asked the ref to go to the screen to see if he made a mistake by not awarding a penalty for the pull.
So why didn't he book Young?

The Ref said it was for a foul by Maguire, which was checked and found to be erroneous.
What the Ref and VAR missed was the dual foul by de Ligt, because the weren’t looking for it, and therefore didn’t check other camera angles. They assumed Young had gone down dramatically after a slight contact.

VARs fault for not checking other angles, but it was taking too long anyway and they had already cleared Maguire.

Cast your minds back to January 9th, Dyche sacked and us in the proverbial. Today is wonderful, even if the result and VAR are disappointing. I honestly thought around New Year that we were gone.
It's what a good everton manager does. Dissapointed with a draw we'd be celebrating under Dyche.....also missing a chance to getting within a distant whiff of a Euro spot. Great stuff in my book.
Breath of fresh air.
I can soon see Moysie being slammed for not finishing top 6😅

I see where you are coming from but "wonderful" ? No mate
We are all pissed off.But we would have all jumped at the chance to be 14 clear in the time period since SD left.We played like a Dyche team in the second half and sat back.We will not be having sleepless nights regarding relegation and we will be up there next season in an European competition.

Had a bit of time with the kids and dog to chill out and collect my thoughts.

We managed the game poorly to the extent we needed a last min penalty to rescue a win that should have been comfortable.

The pen call was absurd. Nothing clear and obvious about it, in terms of overturning the on-field decision. The ONLY way a given penalty can be called clearly and obviously wrong is if the attacker basically bought it with a dive in which case second yellow and off for Young, which also didn’t happen. Infuriating to be done over by a system that was supposed to have been introduced to reduce the chances of something like that happening.

40% mad at Moyes, 60% at VAR. And yet the outcome of that two travesties was still a draw. We’re light years ahead of where we were 7 weeks or so ago.
