We get into some decent positions with time and space to put a decent ball into the mix, and then fail to beat the first man with a half arsed attempt at a cross.
This doesn't just happen once or twice, we all moan about service to DCL, well a bit of practice (should they need it at the level they are playing?) during the week might benefit them.
Mykolenko is the worst culprit.
McNeill can join him
Put Lindstrom in the bin, he can retire to the rigours of the Faro island premier division, because he isn't making it in our league.
Agree with that. We can win a ball and quickly transition, even playing some half decent stuff doing so but in the final third it just evaporates. Brentford understandably condensing things after going down to 10 men exacerbated the issue.
I've seen arguments that his lack of assists mean
Mykolenko doesn't get forward due to tactical instructions. That's clearly not true but he pretty much always plays that same backward diagonal pass inside him. If it's an instruction it's terrible and if it's him not wanting to take attacking responsibility then he needs telling.
McNeill being totally one footed and scoring the odd worldie now and then seems to have convinced himself that his only option with the ball is to run straight into congestion or just take on a low percentage shot. He's the perfect illustration of the transition / final third thing. When he picks it up deep with space to go into he can be very good at turning with the ball and carrying it forward but soon as things require a little more craft and delicacy in heavier traffic he nearly always makes a poor decision.
Lindstrom just looks like a technically gifted player simply not suited to the PL or requiring a long period of adaptation.
Doucore & Gueye have their limited uses but if they're the players getting the ball in the final third then very little is going to happen. The most consistent factor in their games is the ability to play inexplicably sloppy passes with alarming regularity.
