That was more aimed at the people who'd rather we finished 6th and not qualify for Europe on the off chance it'll help us finish 4th the following year and qualify for a tournament we've got less chance of winning.

It wouldn't benefit us In the long run so that's no good for a club with no money. Champions League or nothing you mean?

Not for me. I want trophies. The Champions League will get us money, the money which should be used to help us get trophies.
 
The amount of Everton 'FANS' who don't want us too win trophies is staggering last week it was the league cup now it's the europa league. Gobsmacked at this, we haven't won a trophy since '95 and so called fans don't care about cup competitions. One thing I don't understand about fans is all season it's let's get into europe, then when in europe it's, oh im not bothered it's a sh!t cup.

Trophies lads, that's what the game is all about, winning trophies otherwise in an era when the league is out ofreach at the minute what's the point at all.

Exactly.

I'm wondering if it's a poor excuse that fans use for us not winning anything. 'I didn't want to win the Mickey Mouse Cup anyway it's ****'.
 
I would prefer champions but would be happy if we got Europa i just think it wont benefit us in the long run. Still it's a trophy

We've tried the not winning stuff and not qualifying for stuff before and it's been crap. Legacies and 'in the long runs' are very very rare in fotball, good sides can last only a few years. Mid 80s was 4 years for example. So if you build a good team you need to win as much as you can in them 4 years. There's been many good sides that have lasted less than 4 years. You can't look that far in the future, players don't, just win what you can now.
 
Went home and away during the UEFA Cup run the other year (got knocked out by Fiorentina) and it was the most amazing thing ever. I want them days again, simple as that.

It won't benefit us will it not, i enjoy having a glorious past to brag about over the likes of toon and villa fans if we always had the attitude of it doesn't matter we wouldn't be the fourth most successful club in England would we. Trophies mate, give me some silver everyday of the week.
 
an awful lot of tosh being talked here. winning the europa league would be huge for Everton... absolutely massive. I would go absolutely crazy if we won it.

this statement is so absolutely ridiculous. The 3 biggest international club competitions in the world are Champions League, Copa Libertadores and the Europa League and we haven't won a trophy since 1995......

For the record, I'd also celebrate if we won the league cup...

It's a worrying phenomenon of modern football. I've seen/heard it from supporters of other teams - even had a Bolton fan a year or two back trying to belittle the Europa League/UEFA Cup! I just thought Evertonians were a bit different as indicated by the numbers we travelled with and the good attendances we had at home. I think we had as many watch the ressies in a dead rubber in the freezing cold against BATE as some clubs would get in for more high prestige games. Also, to have 5000 travel to Leeds midweek for a game on Sky.

I know it's sad for a club with Everton's illustrious history to be happy with "any old cup" but even moreso for a club with that history to be ecstatic at finishing 4th.

dont think we have the squad to be able to cope, could we really rest fellaini baines howard and jelavic and win games.

We aren't in it yet though mate are we ? You'd think changes may happen before we played in Europe , anyway with group stages , hopefully winnable games and dead-rubbers give you the chance to blood youngsters with nothing or very little at stake depending on your qualification status

But moyes rarely does that does he, he plays virtually full strength even when we have 3 games in a week,
Dont think we could make 6 or 7 changes and still win let alone 11 changes.
