EST Safe Standing Survey Results

Looking at the results, around 700 say they would go in it. We could do with sorting a standing area now at Goodison.

Stand in front of your seats, pretty much similar to the rail seating at Celtic but you don't have a rail. Corner of the Gwladys Street/Bullens, next non Season Ticket ticket match.

Or what about when the next lot of away fans don't take their full allocation? Get in there maybe?

...never understood why folk prefer to stand than sit but that's just my view. I accept others feel differently and that some are passionate on this subject so I wouldn't object if it's what enough folk want.

I just can't see it happening at Goodison unless Liverpool also agree to it, and I doubt they will agree to it any time soon because it's such a sore subject for understandable reasons

In my opinion, I think that both us and Liverpool will have to reject this at first and wait to see how the other clubs fare with it. If the other PL sides have it for a while and there's no issues, we can then go to the families of those lost on that tragic day and have some evidence that rail seating is considerably safer than they first feared and perhaps at that point they may soften on the issue

Until such a time, I honestly feel discussing it is premature. We need to wait to see how the Liverpool supporters lean in the survey and then see how the club and the victims families react to those survey results

There's no way we'll pursue this without Liverpool also doing so, it would just cause too much hurt and division in the local community

We've just had massive hearings that proved that Hillsborough was nothing to do with "standing".

im glad several Hillsborough families & one group in particular are looking at it objectively. In fact if safety is the main concern then it should implemented sooner rather than later.

Rail seating has been around for a long long time with less problems than seating so there is no need for a "trial" per de

It should be Merseyside leading the way on this. It seems wrong that fans on Merseyside should actually have to campaign for safety? The clubs see Everton and Liverpool fans stand in their thousands on many most matches plus away fully stood.

However, to me though that actually says that the clubs know that it is safe to stand where they are standing at present, and that it is more of a customer service issue of fans who wish to sit are caught up amongst standing.

I personally think that the fact it works in Germany is proof it will work here

Out of all the countries in main land Europe I'd consider the German's to be one of the closest to us culturally

If something works there, I'd like to think it would here

But at the end of the day there's still a vocal part of the Hilsborough families who are staunchly against standing in absolutely any form and if Liverpool (And in turn us) are ever going to adopt rail seating they're going to have to either talk them round or do it against their wishes, and I'd be shocked if they did the latter anytime soon

There is an argument that the pro-standers have to win here, and until they win that argument with the relevant people I really think it's exceedingly premature to start talking about this, even if I personally would be for rail seating (As would a lot of others it seems)

So you have to win the argument but it's premature to argue for it?

You are actually right on this. Without sounding rude, some things you've said are slightly blinkered by your passion for evidently improving the match going experience. We go to away games, and score, I usually end up flying over the row infront of me, or with my shins in agony due to the low seating. I, fwiw, would be strongly in favour of standing, however, it's hugely contradictory of ourselves and Liverpool to stand at every away game, and some home games. How can you say no to safe standing, yet persistently stand in less safe surroundings?

Baffling.

Yes it did, there was to many people in that end. As people didnt have seat numbers

Liverpool will never ever have it and neither should we

I'm not saying no to say safe standing at all, I mustn't have worded it well. What I reckon though is that certain parts of grounds are already safe to stand in already without the need for rails, and I think the clubs know that.

This has done my head in...

Why would 7% of people be against this if there's still capacity for them to sit down if that's what they want to do? I stand at every home game but I'd never want to deny anyone else the right to sit if that's their preference.

The best argument is for the 18 other clubs to implement it and display it's safety

And that doesn't require any involvement from us

Could very well prove to be the best way, but fans of all team should be allowed to get involved if they wish.

If it is a safety matter then their own safety is important, why shouldn't they argue for guarantees to their safety.

If it's not a safety issue, then why can't they argue for what they want?
