ESPN bids for US Premier League rights

NEA if they're not going to show all the matches, which it's highly likely they won't; same reason I dropped NBC's 'Peacock' service after a few months. I'm not arsed about anyone other than Everton.
Doesn't Peacock show all the matches that aren't on cable?

Peacock is rad because it has weird sports like biathlon and athletics competitions on it...with no commentary. It's intoxicating.

I loathe ESPN and have overall been happy with NBC's service....not super excited about the potential of going back.

No idea what the agreement is, I just know they didn't show all of our matches so it ain't for me. The cost is no big deal but I signed up to watch us and if we're not on then I'm paying for nothing as that's all I used it for. It's like 'kin car insurance...I feel like wrecking my current one on purpose as I haven't had to make a claim in over 25 years; could've bought 3 cars cash-in-hand with the money I've given State Farm to do f all over all that time...anyhow, getting off on a tangent.

Matches weren’t on Peacock if they are on NBC or it’s sports channels. It is an addition to their main coverage, which is top notch.

It would be better for us in Canada as ESPN and TSN are linked. Losing the PL rights to DAZN a couple of years ago was a real pain as TSN and Sportsnet used to show almost every PL game on a weekend.

So more money, I wonder what kind of viewing figures they get, the night games UK time might do well but a 3pm kick off on the west coast is like 8 in the morning isnt it?

Which is exactly why I cut the cable cord a long time ago...having to have 3-5 different "packages" to watch what you actually want to is a joke. At one point, my cable bill was over $200 a month for me to have access to the less than 10 channel's I actually watched, since I don't watch TV in general. Meanwhile, I'm seeing things like NFL Game Pass, MLB.TV etc happening while the PL is (still) in the stone age.

Yeah, but NBC Sports and NBC are basic channels. I think it is much fairer the way they do it than to have a much more expensive subscription purely for the Premier League.

Yeah, me and my two friends split a youtubeTV account (just to get NBC sports) which greatly reduces the cost; it's 780$ a year, but we split it 3-ways as you can have 3 separate accounts linked to one bill.

Peacock has done a few flip-flops. When it first came out they said they'd replay ALL PL games later in the day, even ones that are on NBC sports. Then they stopped this (which is when I cancelled) but this season they again show ALL PL games, but the ones that are on other channels such as NBCsports are shown 24 hours later.

ESPN+ is the best value if you're addicted to all footie (like I am). I watch a lot of FA cup, Carabao Cup, Championship League, and League 1 games; they even have League 2 games on occasion, so I can even catch a Tranmere game. They also do tons of international games, all for 6.99 a month.

Yeah, fair - we also cut cable years ago and have been watching that bill slowly inch back up as new services come online. We have both Hulu+ and Peacock to watch the Prem, so I can watch NBCSN/NBC on Hulu and whatever spillover is on Peacock.

I would prefer to see that unified to a single service, but ESPN+ will probably end up just another add on (which we probably already have for FA/League Cup games).

NBCs coverage is the best in any sport at the moment imo. Lowe, Earle, Mustoe, Howard all solid (Tim started out shaky). ESPN sucks snd everything it touches withers. I hope NBC keeps it, especially since while I don’t like paying extra for Peacock premium it’s not thst much an I will be super pissed if I can’t get every Everton game
