Can we stop with the confidence? It terrifies me. I quietly believe we have a chance but these oft-repeated proclamations of a smashing feel wide of the mark and may come back to haunt a few of you.
Used to fear and loathe Spurs in equal measure given our recent (1985-2006) terrible record. It has been patchy since. I remember that horrendous game
Moyes brought Hibbert on to defend a 1-1 to a tremendous chorus of boos and Jenas scored in injury time to inflict a 1-2 defeat. But I also remember the simply outstanding win with 10-men in 2006 at the lane. I was stuck in traffic getting home from Cornwall which ended up being a 10 hour journey. I didn't mind one bit once I heard the scores coming through on the radio (no fancy phones in them days ha ha). Followed it up with an equally impressive 1-3 the year after and generally have performed well against Spurs last few years. I think it will be an open and exciting game, they will give us a sterner test than Arsenal, who pretty much came to defend (especially given their early goal). Despite perceived defensive frailties they have two excellent keepers to call on (I'd bite their hands off to have Friedel, he'd be our #1 guaranteed). The battle of the attacking fullbacks will be very interesting indeed. Walker will give Baines serious problems without doubt.
3 points is a real must on Sunday. Hope we don't choke - and the best way to avoid that is by playing up our underdog credentials. We absolutely love that. Seeing ourselves as favourites has always led to painful disappointments.
