I think I'm finally beginning to understand your issues. Your problem is that money has been spent on players who did not go immediately into the fist team. None of these players are flops. At the very least, the money spent can be recouped (at the very least a chunk). But none of them are leaving.

Look at the transfer fees of Sturridge and Coutinho. They are remarkable value. Remarkable. Suarez missed the first 5 matches of the season. It was those two who kep us near the top of the table.

And I don't see how you can possibly think anything bad of Allen. I can only assume that you haven't seen him play. He is great.

It just makes no sense.

Why 'build for the future' when instead you could have bought players ready to make an instant impact that would have almost certainly fired you into the Champions League ? Then you can build for the future, when you're getting an extra £30m+ a season for being in Europe's premier competition.

Spending a few mill here or there like we did with Stones or Oviedo, sure. But spending £20m+ on 'the future' is madness.

Liverpool have more money, therefore they can spend more on their 'for the future'signings than us, and why someone like Chelsea can pay £18m on lukaku and loan him out for 2 seasons in a row. All boils down to the readies

Ok.

Who would you rather have and who is the better player?

1. Joe Allen or

2. James Mccarthy

By that logic why haven't they spent money on 'future' signings as well as ones who aren't currently crap ?

Because the owners won't authorise it after they made another loss on last years accounts and got into even more debt.

Liverpool and Chelsea aren't even comparable in terms of financial backing.

I have a simple question.

Is Coutinho better than Barkley?
