ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Like Lukaku for instance. He is vital to your top 4 aspirations and for very good reason. I'd say he's the most difficult striker to mark in the league. But not everyone seems to think so. Look on a Chelsea forum and you'll see what I mean.

As for us, players such as Coutinho are often dismissed as ****e by rival fans because he hasn't racked up the assists this season, but he is so important to our team and letting Suarez find free space, we wouldn't have won the number of games we have without him (a good example is the Arsenal match which he didn't start).

So, what are you saying? I'm not saying he can't play, but do you think Liverpool would've won at Arsenal if he'd played?

They're also claiming to be top 1/2 way through the season, well you have City & Chelsea away before the 1/2 way mark, by which point we'll be ahead of them by 4 points.

'kin ********s & Blatherskites every last 1 of them.

Perhaps not. But it makes a huge difference to our style of play, most importantly how much space he affords Suarez (and Sturridge). When he and either Suarez or Sturridge play (even if it's only one of them), we've rarely lost. When Coutinho's out is when we have suffered the most defeats. And we have no adequate cover for him.

Your midfield looks weak when lead legs is in it. He's become Beckham of a few years back - his only real use now is his excellent dead ball delivery, aside from that he's often a liability in the centre of the pitch for you now imo, as his legs are shot.

The over celebrating of being joint top on Christmas day is going to look a tad daft when they're sat 5th come 7.30 on Boxing day..............

Twas the night after Christmas
They were gathered in pubs
For that's how the Kopites
Do follow their club's

Games - home and away,
You'll find them a 'supping
Through all of the play.

Chrimbo on top
The first time in years
But soon they'd be drowning
Their sorrow with beers.

For Toffees had won
The Chavs - and Arse too!
Their heroes had travelled
To Etihad Blue

Negredo and Silva
They all Come To Play
To shoot and to score
Past poor Mignolet

So Kopites a'gathered
All bevied and spliffed
After all of the fixtures
They ended in fifth.

I wouldn't go that far. You can't underestimate how many teams **** themselves just because Steven Gerrard's on the field (Fulham about a month back being a classic example). Playing 90 minutes week in week out may be beyond him at this point as he has to manage himself through games. There's talk of using him as an impact player and bringing him off after 60. Others say to use him as a sub. I'd say that the latter is a fair way off at the moment. He's still near the top of the assist charts. given how well we have coped without him, either he will return to a deep midfield role, or my preference would be to have him as the right attacker in a 4-3-3 thereby negating his inability to get back like he used to.

Yeah mate due to his dead balls - as that's all he's got left in his locker.

I hope you stick him straight back in when he's fit, as he's defo your weak link in open play & leaves you open in the centre of the pitch.

You're not the only red who doesn't want to accept the fact that he's well on the downslope & I hope that Brendan feels that he's politically undroppable as a result.

I don't think anyone would say that the Gerrard of today is less of a superstar footballer than the Gerrard of 5 years ago. But having said that, there arent many players that ever reach that level, so it's not such a big issue.

Playing him wide right in a front 3 negates the centre of the pitch issue. It will be intersting to see what the manager does when he's fit. He's a clever man, not unlike your gaffer, so I'm sure he will figure it out.
