ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Of course it has been, thus has been the fate of many a comments section of articles that dare to suggest Luis may not be the greatest player ever to play in England.

Lawton does raise an interesting point though, that image of Fowler behaving decently against Arsenal has stuck in peoples mind far more than any of his goals (and anything else he did in his career apart from that celebration), and Suarez could have likewise delivered two fingers to everyone who thinks he is a **** (a group also known as the entire country) by acting with a bit of class and dignity in a game against non-league opposition who had publicly bent over backwards to support LFC.

Instead he acted like a ****.

Kinell,Fowler and acting with class and dignity just doesn't sit right with me,yeah he took the moral high ground by admitting it wasn't a pen,but didn't he step up and dispatch the spot kick?why didn't he simply knock it wide?!!!!

Seaman saved his attempt, it was knocked in by McAteer (on loan at the club from FC Mensa at the time).

Where do we all see this ending?
Have the redhsite been found out as no longer one of the big clubs and that their fans are deluded or, will they come good at some point?

For me, they have had their time and, unless a major investor comes along then they will not compete with UTD,Chlsea, city, spurs or arsenal for a long time.

They now belong to the chasing pack as do we I think.

The more time they spend out of the CL and actaully winning things the less likely they are to get back there.

Its interesting because it cannot keep going the way it is either they or their fans will have to change path drastically.

They have too much money and too many fans not to get back among the big boys eventually.

Just enoy it while we're better then them.

This is kind of what I was getting at.

At football lasy night I was watching the kids before my game and there were as many city/arsenal/utd/chelsea shirts as there were ****e shirts. Their appeal and fanbase it dwindling and being picked off by the bigger clubs. If they do not do some thing they will fall away, much like we have I hate to say.

Sponsors, owners and merchandising cannot continue to support a club in decline.

Is this just wishfull thinking - I sound well bitter!

Sturridge is being very clever. For the last 2 days suarez has been the top football story. Is he a cheat or not has been the big debate.

It's a masterstroke to come out and say Liverpool are the biggest club in the country as it may stop the debate on Suarez being a cheating ****. I'm sure he was told to say it by far more intelligent people than himself. The last thing they want ahead of Sunday is for suarez's sportsmanship or lack of it, to be front page news.

But rest assured, Fergie will blow the little **** out of the water with his press conference on Friday.

Yup. He'll big up Howard Webb & then say something like, "he's very experienced & is more than capable of being able to spot a genuine foul from a player taking a tumble" without mentioning Suarez by name....

I don't think these Yanks will be in for short termism.

The problem they have is thier 'sporting model' is based on American sports that have very different rules than our PL. They won't spend, and probably don't have, the money needed to go to the top of this league.

That means they will be sloshing about in the 4th-8th zone that we inhabit.

They'll be happy with that, it doesn't cost a great deal and they still have top notch commercial deals. Plus they have all the ex RS in the media to keep them on the telly etc etc........

They will deteriorate over time. This season and last was the first in probably 40-50 years the whole of football didn't recognize them as one of the countries top sides. The natives will get restless eventually IMO.

Perhaps they already are, hence their weird behaviour.

I do.

I think if they could offload it in the short term & return a profit, they'd be off in a shot.

They've kicked the stadium issue down the road & I'd wager any money that they never complete it.
