ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Rodgers did ok at Swansea and he's a manager with 'potential' , 18months ago he got the bullet after just 6months at Reading which hardly impressive. Swansea did well certainly for the early part of the season however it seemed to me that teams figured them out by its conclusion especially at home where the later part of the season I'm sure wasn't as impressive as earlier (unless im remembering that wrong ?) where their passing across the back wasn't as impressive when teams dared them to 'break them down ' . Having a total belief in a system will work if everyone is pulling in the right direction , that's why Swansea was a perfect fit following on from Martinez and Sousa lets see what happens at Anfield and hope for 'the best'

was guna say i'm sure it's 6 seconds not 6 minutes. the point is, when we played swansea at the liberty we played them off the park in the second half. moyes totally sussed them out, playing a high line with pressure starting from the striker. at swansea he didn't have a plan b, look at who's going to be on liverpool's bench, carroll is the only person who i can honestly say can be considered to be a plan b. but rodgers won't do that, he won't want to revert to long ball, and therefore, so therefore if carroll is still there, he'll have to learn how to play the ball with his feet. letting kuyt and bellamy go will prove to be a massive mistake. i hope moyes goes to anfield with the same mentality that he took to the liberty in the 2nd half last season. he failed at reading and watford because he had to change their philosophy of football, he succeeded at swansea because it was all set in place

The RS are a team in a lot of transition and appear to be making a lot of effort to steady it, a good backing from a rich owner and consistent managerial changes are a bad recipe this is the third time in 2 years a manager has attempted to build his 'own' team, one was the messiah and the other is now the england manager who apparently wasn't good enough, a manager with very little premier league experience and living on his rep as being Jose's protégé is all he has going for him.

As Del pointed out, he has the fans on his side lapping up the thank you letters, and the 'class' 180 dossiers on visions etc, all little quirks that the RS attribute to the 'shankly' in him..

I would be surprised to see him fall flat on his face, but equally as unsurprised to see them do well.

Gary Neville had a helping hand in that as well :-)

We slaughtered them at the Liberty, it was a walk in the park. I know he failed awfully at Reading, he bombed totally but what worries me is that its better class of player, players who have been used to playing high pressure non-stop football under Rafael the [Poor language removed]. I hope it goes wrong, but this is the ****e we are talking about, they always come out on top

It must be an absolute nightmare to work in a job where the majority of the fanbase start waxing lyrical about the glories of a manager who left them under a cloud more than 2 years ago. I've seen Kopites going on about him all over the net when he's not even related to the story at hand.

A couple of losses on the bounce at Anfield and the dissenters will start piping up with their 'Rapha' scarves, and it will be all downhill from there. Bunch of utter bells.

Like I said earlier in the thread , I think that it's the stuff like 'dossiers' , moneyball & his system which is 'data' based that's massively turned off some of the old guard already and from what I'm told they're waiting for him to stumble and aren't all embracing this system so as I've said a few times lets see how he starts as I've no doubt not everyone is buying into this.

I suppose it goes to how strong he personally; AVB lost the dressing room because of the same issues. If he his strong character and manager then the old guard will be shipped out.

I hope it goes wrong, but football evolves and the traditional system become old school

if they are that quality, why is he trying to replace them with swansea players. lets be honest here, they have spearing, heanderson, downing, carroll, borini and a gerrard who looked like he lost his legs last season no matter how many plaudits he got in the euros. those are not the same as 2005 gerrard, alonso, mascherano, torres and the ilk

Can someone write in simple terms about this Moneyball and Brendon System, cos all i hear is brendon system is ace, and what the different between Moyes and Brendon football.

“At Liverpool Comolli has relied more heavily on the so-called “Moneyball philosophyâ€￾ (which, irritatingly, has also infiltrated my club), which argues, among other things, that a team that wins more than 40 headers, or crosses the ball more than 30 times or makes 12 regains in the final third, will nearly always winâ€￾.

this is a statement i found, sounds good
