ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They are indeed I live in Valencian community

I worked for 6 weeks in Casa Balanza in Valencia washing dishes after my Leaving Cert in 1982 - about 50p per hour but all I could eat and I had free accommodation with a friend.

I never studied Spanish formally but picked up quite a lot in that time as no one in the restaurant spoke English- my grammar is poor and I learnt a lot of bad language. However I loved my time there and have since gone back with my family.

As regards Castellano I can understand what people are saying and have a workable vocabulary. No good on Catalan or Valenciano

Sadly the restaurant is now gone as is its remarkable owner Enrique Grau. He also owned the Palaccio de la Belotta which I think is still going.

The people are so warm my castellano is decent. Valenciano none existent but my son will be learning it in school. Hope he doesn't need help with his homework

Everyone spoke Castellano around me - I think Catalan and Valenciano are very similar and are a kind of mix of French and Spanish. Much prefer Valencianos to Catalans. I am sure you know how much the rest of Spain don't like Catalans.

They are ok but not as friendly as Valencianos or Madrilenos in my experience. The rest of Spain regards them as arrogant and money grabbing.

I have never been to Andalusia so i can't speak about the South although I have met Andalusians and they were sound.

Best wishes to your little fellah
