ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Premier League referees' chief Howard Webb says it was "not unreasonable" for Virgil van Dijk's goal to be disallowed for offside against Manchester City on Sunday.

Van Dijk thought he had equalised for Liverpool in the 38th minute, but referee Chris Kavanagh and his assistant Stuart Burt decided Andrew Robertson had committed an offside offence by ducking under the flight of the ball, which had impacted goalkeeper Gianluiga Donnarumma.

The Video Assistant Referee, Michael Oliver, checked the incident and supported the on-field call, with Manchester City going on to win the game 3-0.
Nah……what’s happening?!

Webb going against them, Kinell, end of days stuff this.

Queue more headloss from the loveables.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is why I hate modern game. Media simply decide what people can be angry about. I accept that under rules JOBS goal ruled out even if it had no affect on goal. However Ratboy was in front of goalie. No doubt they'll get some stupid decision, to make up for City decision. Ratboy knew he was offside, look at his face when ball goes in.

I think that is the correct wording. It is not unreasonable to see it as offside. Interfering with play can be seen as very subjective. Some will agree and some will disagree.

Ours against Spurs was the same. I don't think it is unreasonable to see that a decision was to be made and unfortunately the ref saw it as affecting the keeper. What confused me about that one was the ref mentioning Grealish in the decision when he was nowhere near the keeper, the ball or any line of sight.

Robertson being in line with the balls trajectory surely constitutes a decision to be made. They are all making out that he wasn't even on the pitch at the time.

Just re-watched that city haaland goal again……wow, what a goal, brilliant football.

Was thinking it’s up there for goal if the season, but then I remembered it was only against the RS!

Evening lurkers. YMCA.
Saw a great piece of analysis of that goal, think it was off Roy Keane … pointed out in the build up Robertson had gone out to press the ball as his winger had come inside, vvd man had gone out to the wing so vvd tracked him, for some reason then big daddy virge decided to come back central leaving Robertson to try get back to full back to cover the winger, but the timing was awful, city exposed the space allowing the winger to put the cross in before Robertson could get near him… all on vvd that goal.

Over rated yard dog, he’s got away with being bang average for years.

Think Virge will be having a word with Keane about that mate, is Keane actually inferring that Virge might have made a mistake there ? After all Van Dyke is a defender who has never been dribbled past or beaten in the air, head of foot, even his finger is World class it can point the blame at everyone....except himself of course.

BBC still going on about it today. Forget the Trump speech, this is real bias.
All of this only puts more pressure on referees to give every decision their way in the future.
I think its only fair the result is overturned and the 3 points go to Liverpool. I mean, it must be an absolute howler of a decision to get this much air time.
