We got this cat over here, I better not mention his name, I don’t know the slander laws regarding forum boards; if its cool I‘ll mention this c**t, no worries. . This chap was caught strangling the life out of some poor woman in the Wicklow mountains and he got stopped. [Poor language removed] got a couple of years for rape and kidnap -- he is responsible for at least 7 murders, women gone missing . He got released last year -- this is Ireland’s biggest serial killer and we can’t touch him, no evidence. We all know he did it, killed all those women, yet we can’t touch him. My taxes were used to give this monster a start up when he got out of prison. I really want to mention his name. If I can, let me know - this man is beyond dangerous to women and he travels between Spain and the UK and Eire.

Do you know what ? after the initial shock of it all, both myself and the Mrs hardly ever mention it. Seen a lot of life and witnessed a fair bit of death, these things do happen.
Its when its personal that it clouds the mind, I would say, Whiting, Huntley, shouldnt be here anymore.. Others will say the lad I thought I once knew shouldnt be here either.. Very tricky subject.

You're an excellent bloke, you really are. That's some mess you've gone through. No words really, except you humble me in your outlook - anything else and I'll sound patronsing. I probably already am sounding like a c**t -- but fair play to you mate.

what the **** is wrong with some people it seems like every week you get these crazy, disgraceful stories coming out over and over again about one thing or another.

Is it that it's happening more or it's because its more widely reported due to instant access via Internet?
Asked as a genuine question btw not like a bit of posturing.

didn't have time to read through the whole thread, the first 3 pages were very interesting and good debate. Typically those opposed to the death penalty will always cite the US and various 'errors' that have occurred over time by citing what at first glance appear to be significant numbers which become less significant when represented in another manner e.g. a percentage.

however that's not the reason for my contribution. When debating the rights and wrongs of the death penalty why not consider Singapore where the death penalty is regularly carried out without much delay / appeal ? Previous media reports (albeit State controlled media) provide that less than 10% of Singaporeans would abolish the death penalty why, because it serves as the ultimate deterrent and many Singaporeans (and 100,000's of expats) would argue that because of this and the manner in which the law is enforced in general that thay are happy to live in comfort and safety and that horrible pricks like Cawser simply wouldn't be tolerated.

No matter how angry, disturbed, mad or just plain nasty Cawser is do you honestly think he'd have done what he did (or even considered it) knowing that within a week of his actions he'd probably be swinging from the gallows ?

Should never bring back the death penalty, for the simple fact that you could be taking the life of an innocent person.

Should let people serve life in prison, atleast then innocent people have the chance to clear their name before its too late.

We have DNA now - its very unlikely an innocent person would get hung if we implement it properly. Too many do-gooders with excuses for scum to ever let that happen though.
