2023/24 Dwight McNeil

You need a player that scares other teams and forces you to try and mark them and take them out of games. The guy was so full of confidence and dropping everyone pants in preseason on the dribble that I was dying to see him start the year. And look where we are. I just think defensively alone he makes a massive difference to that left side. He inspires others by just doing classy things on the ball. I’m so peeved at the farmers that took him out.

We are clearly crying out for someone that can pick a pass and beat a man. With Harrison and Danjuma likely providing proper wide options, could McNeil be our answer in the Doucoure/Number 10 role when he is back?

Many of noticed that Chermiti and Danjuma were providing good runs in behind, but we weren't capable of picking the pass.

The funny thing is that the midfield was better than Fulham's and Wolves'. It would be great
if we could get a top playmaker but the midfield as it is presently formed is ok. Doucore nicks the odd goal
and we can get by with what we have.

The biggest problem is up-front: no goals, no pace, no real talent. And now it looks like the team will have three centre
forwards all with the same characteristics.

Then, our full-backs supply very little.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing, if the overall plan works and we're signing players to hedge against injuries. Having Maupay starting in a setup designed to feed DCL is a long way from optimal.

Not getting creativity from the full-backs is a problem in this day and age. They don't both need to be creative stars. Alves/Alba and plenty of other duos prove that. It is important to get creativity from one of them, to stretch defenses.

He’s always been better centrally.

….weird how Chermiti played on Saturday, he must‘ve got ‘Dyche Fit’ in Portugal despite not playing this season.
I reckon Dyche thinks that a 10 percent fit 19 year old is better than a fully fit Maupay. As we all do.
Poor old Cannon although he does have an excuse. He's been injured hasn't he?
