Donald Trump for President Thread

He seems incapable of staying on message, whenever he even tries to tone it down he barely lasts 48 hours before he says something controversial again.

Whether it is because his ego needs to always be in the headlines or if he constantly ramps up the crazy to get TV exposure in lieu of traditional campaigning (Jill Stein has spent more on ads than he has!) the pattern of escalation suggests we haven't seen the worst yet unfortunately.

Even if I supported him it would seem a daft strategy as he frequently overshadows campaign missteps by Clinton.

Prior to the Brexit vote I'd be confident that such bewildering behaviour could never obtain office, but after that nothing would surprise me.

If one were to actually run a Clinton false flag operation through Trump to neuter any effective opposition to the ascension of Hillary to the title, how would it differ from what we currently see? Just a question...

Would Trump actually be cognizant of what he is doing as events are manipulated to put things in their current position? Out of control narcissists are kind of easy to manipulate when you concoct a supportive narrative for their ultimate fantasies.

And how the heck did the Orlando's shooter's dad wind up sitting right behind Hillary at her rally this past weekend?

To even ask these questions is to be branded a crackpot. It my case, it's a given, so I ask these questions anyway...

To repeat:

Aye and the murder of Jo Cox highlights that the risk of people using violence rather than the ballot box is non trivial.

@mezzrow, I'm not a believer in conspiracy theories, find simpler explanations far more persuasive. The Republican party misjudged in that they thought they could get a little bit pregnant with Trump, keeping his core supporters on board by flattering him whilst hoping he would just flame out on his own.

The Mateen fiasco is one of those missteps that I mentioned that has been overshadowed that would be very damaging to Clinton in a normal campaign.

I tend to agree. Sometimes I get a bit all chico in trying to stir the embers.

There was a large slice of the Republican electorate that could have united under any one of Walker/Rubio/Cruz/Kasich/Anybody that could have taken on Trump and defeated him, but two factors blew it all up. The institutional party money insisted on running Jeb Bush when he was still radioactive due to his last name and really didn't want to run, plus the guys making the money being spent by Bush convinced him to stay in far too long so they could drink at the $ trough. The only one of the others that saw the oncoming disaster and chose the nation's good over his own ambition was Scott Walker. We had one statesman running, and he was the first to drop out.

Figures.

The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Ha, the desire to stir things seems to be very popular lately!

Tbf to the GOP they also faced an unusual candidate in that Trump already had wide name recognition/shtik that provided instant free media and some personal wealth, both of which meant his initial lack of funding was less of a barrier. Without either of those you end up with someone like Paul Ryan's primary challenger or Jeff Sessions in a silly hat.

Don't think Walkers half assed Trump endorsement where he tried to keep Trump's supporters happy whilst clearly holding his nose in disgust was particularly statesman like but we'll probably have to agree to disagree on that one!

True dat, but Walker's a party guy, and Trump's the nominee. Sometimes you have to eat the bug - at least he didn't smile while doing it, or consume the insect with the gustatory panache of Chris Christie.

Aye, get the pressure to endorse the nominee although given that Trump spends almost more time attacking his own party members such as McCain/Ryan than he does Democrats think there would have been enough justification to withold endorsement on the basis that he is bad for the party itself.

And I now have the image of Christie eating a cockroach with relish which is putting me off breakfast lol
