Donald Trump for President Thread

I am finding it very difficult to even think of a collective meltdown that approaches the scale of the one that the US commentariat class is undergoing right now. Some of the things they are coming out with are so utterly mindless that it is frightening.

aye, the liberal press come out with guff as bad as anything from Fox, Breitbart, The S*n or Mail.

just goes to show if you're too far aligned to one particular side you end up not seeing the wood for the trees, you just keep blindly pushing the same agenda.

The Guardian is really distasteful right now, i used to feel proud to have written for them but nowadays i feel tainted. Thank all yer gods they still allow comments on a few articles...sorting them via 'recommended' points is very telling.

Meanwhile here's Nick Cohen, with the latest Guardian "the left must change" article that fails to even mention Corbyn.

He makes one good point though. This paragraph.

You can only argue against committed supporters of Trump. If they believe all Mexicans are rapists and Muslims terrorists, you cannot compromise without betraying your principles. Fair enough. But before you become self-righteous you must accept that the dominant faction on the western left uses language just as suggestive of collective punishment when they talk about their own white working class. Imagine how it must feel for a worker in Bruce Springsteen’s Youngstown to hear college-educated liberals condemn “white privilege” when he has a [Poor language removed] job and a miserable life. Or Google the number of times “straight white males” are denounced by public-school educated women in the liberal media and think how that sounds to an ex-miner coughing his guts up in a Yorkshire council flat.

Lot of truth in that. Political correctness has become so grating that it turns off usually moderate people. I myself have found myself rolling my eyes at things like people moaning about a statue of Cecil Rhodes and so on. The "white privilege" thing has never rung true with me - it seems like a go-to card to play whenever possible, when it doesn't actually mean anything.
