In the past I was one of those who thought DCL wasn't good enough to play centre forward for Everton, I thought he wasn't clinical enough when it came to finishing, he simply missed too many chances. Then he changed, he had a break through year, he blossomed into a proper No. 9 and I was delighted to be proven wrong. Having said that I am very disappointed with him presently, I except the injury is completely out of his control and that I know nothing about how hard he is working to get back to where he was. Indeed, I think attacking an injured player is totally wrong. I am hoping he gets himself back and starts scoring very soon.
Personally I couldn't care less if he turns up to training in a twin set and pearls as long as he is putting the effort in. I would criticise him for choosing this time to appear on TV and in magazines, if he was playing and scoring then do what you want provided it doesn't interfere with your job of scoring goals. If he had just banged in a hat trick and had been back in the England team then do all the modelling you want, bring out your own fashion line but never forget the reason TV and magazines are interested in you is because you are a top footballer, as soon as you stop being a top footballer they will drop you. So come on lad, get yourself fit and start doing the day job.

You do know it was a 5 year contract?
Apologies, I thought you’d too it as him signing a new contract. Yet regarding holding all the aces, ultimately player power will often be the key factor.

Considering our financial situation, the fact we’re teetering on relegation and may go down won’t help us at all. Can we justifiably ask for a big fee either?
